One hopeful lad bought 20 drinks in McDonald's to try his luck at scoring some cash in the chain's latest game.

The 'Mad About Maccies' punter took on the fast-food restaurant's latest challenge and took his chances to see if he could make some big bucks.

And incredibly, he actually ended up winning quite a bit of stuff. Check it out:

So, how does one even play the 'Winning Sips' game?

Well, on selected McDonald's cup drinks, be sure to look out for a small black peel-away sticker.

You'll be able to find these on medium or large Coca-Cola (including diet and zero), Sprite, Fanta, Oasis, all the milkshakes and IRN-BRU - if you're in Scotland.

Once you've found the sticker, peel it back and have a gander at what it says on the inside.

The small sticker will contain a 12-digit game piece code offering different prizes for punters to 'redeem via app or in restaurant'.

If you see the words 'WINNER!' at the top of the sticker then you're in luck as all you need to do is pop the code into your McDonald's app, submit it and then collect your winnings.

Rewards include cash prizes, food prizes and merchandise prize outcomes - whether that's some branded Maccies socks, a McMuffin or even a chance to win a small fortune.

And one lad played the numbers game and bought 20 drinks in one go to see what the game piece codes would reward him with.

He shared the TikTok to his thousands of followers explaining: "I bought 20 cup drinks at McDonald's just to see what the chances are of winning the Winning Sips competition."

From the 20 cups, the lad '20 stickers in total' and four out of 20 were 'instant wins'.

"I won an apple pie, medium milkshake, porridge and a f***ing sausage and egg McMuffin," he revealed.

The Maccies aficionado continued: "Oh, I also got one digital win, which I had to redeem on the McDonald's app.

"The remaining 15 stickers yielded no immediate prize, but they do get entered into a £10k prize draw," he added, "let's hope I'm lucky."

Not too shabby at all.

The lad's video has since amassed over 522,000 views on TikTok with hundreds of people eager to give their reaction to his money-making plan.

Many shared their equally lucky experiences with the new Winning Sips game with one TikTok user revealing: "I won a McFlurry and a chance to win £10k."

"My first win was £5, bosh," wrote another.

Bosh indeed.

A third added: "I won £5 cash and six McNuggets. Wheeeeyyyy!"

Others, however, weren't as chuffed with their prize-draw winnings.

"I got porridge," commented a fourth, clearly less-than-enthused, customer.

"I bought [sic] my first one today and won a McPlant," a final TikTok user added with a crying laughing emoji. "I've never been so disappointed in my life."

It's still free scran though - am I right?

Prizes can range from a fruit bag to a whopping £10,000 - but you have to be sure to get there early as the Winning Slips game will come to an end later this month (25 April).
