A woman has gone viral on TikTok for hosting a ‘sperm shower’ at home with all of her friends and family.

Before you panic: no this isn’t the latest bizarre health trend, and no one is using sperm anywhere near a shower in this TikTok.

Instead, this is a viral video in which Emily Webb, 36, invited over her friends to help her make a major decision at a sperm themed celebration in which she had a sperm cake, a ‘nacho daddy’ bar, and a ‘cream pie’.

Emily held the celebration to let her friends decide her sperm donor after a ‘stressful’ experience where she struggled with the difficulties of in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The 36-year-old’s party saw her running through a presentation that explained who all the potential donors were and hosting a ‘donor draft’.

This started off with pretty broadstrokes: descriptions, basic details, and songs that reminded her of them, but according to an interview with People magazine this got far deeper.

She told the magazine: “Once I’d given everyone all short descriptions, I had people request which ones we should look further at.”

Emily suggested that after this they looked into their ‘health history, family history’ and even heard some of their voices, read out letters they wrote.

One sperm bank’s profiles were so detailed that this included ‘SAT scores, birth weight, GPA, and personality type!’

Per the interview her reasoning for holding the party is rather sweet. She said: “This whole process is so stressful and not fun. I tried my best to make this one thing fun by throwing myself a sperm donor shower."

In a separate TikTok she discussed the process of freezing her eggs the year prior and trying to sort out IVF, saying it involved ‘endless labs and insurance saying no, diets, supplements, yoga, a saline sonogram that made her pass out, two weeks of meds and nightly injections, and two+ hour drives every other day’.

The American, who ‘works with babies for a living’, decided to have a child in part because whilst there is no timeline on finding a husband, she stated: “My biological clock does. I couldn’t picture life without motherhood, and I was worried I would miss my opportunity waiting for Mr. Right — so I went for it.”

Ultimately she said her friends took their role in the sperm shower very seriously, all making notes and scoring each person, even stating it took ‘much longer than expected’ because of the debate on who to go with.

She chose a man who had written a ‘really heartfelt and emotionally intelligent’ letter who works in the ‘holistic wellness industry’.

Emily’s TikTok has been met with a predominantly positive reaction from people online, with one comment saying: “I would pay to attend this party.”

Another said: “I work for a fertility office and this is the best thing I’ve seen all week omg.”

A third commented: “We as women need to make things like this more common! Always celebrate us, our decisions and our futures!”

Emily said in another TikTok: “This is the beginning of my IVF journey as a hopeful single mom by choice.”
