Foot fetishes have been thrust back into the spotlight after Dana White gave Nina Drama's 'five star' trotters his seal of approval.

Footage of the pair discussing her WikiFeet rating during a livestream has been doing the rounds on social media, prompting a lot of people to wonder why some folks have a thing for feet.

Although it's one of the most common fetishes, some people still can't get their heads around podophilia.

But before we get into why certain members of society find feet sexually arousing, let's dig into Nina's stellar reputation in this realm.

Earlier this week, the UFC content creator hosted a livestream on her Kick channel alongside Dana - and during their chat, the conversation turned to how a host of her fans have a foot fetish.

Hilariously, she asked the UFC chief whether he is a fan of wearing flip flops, to which he responded: "Why are you asking me this question right now?"

Nina, a former Playboy Playmate of the Year, then explained that those tuning into her livestream 'like feet'...especially hers.

She boasted: "They like feet in my chat. [I have a] five out of five star rating on WikiFeet!"

For those who don't know, Nina was referring to a website that is essentially an online catalogue of celebrity foot pictures, where users are able to rate the ones they like the most.

Thanks to her feet going down a treat with her fans, the 37-year-old has bagged a 'Gorgeous Feet' rating on WikiFeet and her page is flooded with compliments about her plates of meat.

Inevitably, Dana wanted to find out what all the fuss was about, so he asked her to 'show' them to him during the livestream.

Nina happily obliged and the UFC president, 56, then confirmed that her feet were worthy of five stars, as he said: "Those are pretty good feet…I’ll give it to you, those are winners.

"I'm not like a foot guy, but they're not ugly feet, they're great feet. I would agree with the rating on Nina's feet. Great feet."

Dana then laughed while adding: "You whipped the f**kers right out! You and I always have the weirdest f**king conversations."

In a post on X celebrating her boss backing her impressive WikiFeet rating, Nina joked: "Even Dana White knows I’m the Ultimate Feet Champion LOL."

She's been leaning into the hype surrounding her twinkle toes at the minute too, much to the delight of her thousands of admirers.

Nina has shared several snaps and videos of her feet online, while joking that she will 'have to start selling feet pics' if she ever 'gets fired from the UFC'.

In another post, she asked: "Can someone please explain the whole feet thing? I’m not judging I just don’t get it. Please explain LOL."

Well Nina, let's fill you in - this is a fetish, that's also known as podophilia, and it describes a person finding feet, legs, stockings, shoes, or socks sexually arousing.

There's a few theories about where this might stem from and it is largely accepted that there is more than one reason behind it.

For example, Sigmund Freud reckoned that people started sexualising feet as they somewhat resemble penises, while also suggesting fetishes in general are born out of a significant event in a person's childhood that they fixate on.

Other research suggests that some people perceive non-erotic objects or body parts, such as feet, as sources of reward. Therefore, they may become aroused by the praise they receive for showing interest in them.

Neuroscientist Vilayanur Ramachandran also previously claimed he cracked the case.

He proposed that as the part of the brain that processes arousal neighbours the part that processes the sensory input from feet, there is something of a crossover between the sensations.

But according to Dr Justin Lehmiller, foot fetishes are all down to 'learned behaviours'.

Speaking to Men's Health in 2020, the researcher at the Kinsey Institute host of the Sex and Psychology podcast explained: "In the case of feet, it’s more about the visual aspect for some, but for others it may be about sniffing, licking, or otherwise touching feet, including using them during sexual penetration.

"People may be interested in any combination of these activities, or any other activity in which feet are involved, including being stepped on or helping a partner take footwear on and off."

There is no definitive reason behind why people develop fetishes, as everyone is different. However, Dr Lehmiller said 'they are largely thought to be learned behaviours'.

"For example, let’s say you have a partner who spontaneously stimulates your genitals with their feet, and this is something you’ve never experienced before," he said.

"Let’s also say that you happened to find it very pleasurable and had an intense orgasm. This could create positive reinforcement that would lead you to want to repeat the experience in the future, thereby laying the groundwork for a foot fetish."
