Just when it looks as if the true mite of Aldi and Lidl has finally rumbled the so called 'bigger' supermarkets, Asda has pulled something out of the bag.

The two cut-price shops have been battling it out, daring each other to see how low they can go on prices for bottles of whiskey, Prosecco and gin.

But Asda have apparently made a move, selling the cheapest bottle of Prosecco currently available.

As of tomorrow, for seven days the store will be selling its award-winning Yellow Label Prosecco, Mirror reports. It'll be on sale both on shelves and online for £5 all around the country, so it'd be fair for you to stock up.

Some people may have to wait until the end of the week, or indeed after the weekend, for payday to arrive, so if you're struggling - a bottle for a fiver is great news.

Weirdly Asda is promoting this deal, which lasts until 1 November, as a chance for people to prepare for the Christmas period. Let me ask you, Asda, who stores a couple of bottles of anything for almost two months?

If you can't be arsed driving round to your local store then you can order it online, but the minimum spend is £40. This either means you'll have to chuck a few in with your weekly or monthly shop, or simply buy eight of them.

You could possibly find yourself feeling a bit guilty for buying that amount of alcohol, but you can rid yourself of that guilt by only having one glass a night.

And if that's your choice, make sure it's this glass:

It's a 750ml Prosecco glass, enough to hold an entire bottle and you can find it on The Present Finder website for £14.99.

The product description for the glass reads: "No more refills with this glass in your hand! Simply pop the cork and enjoy.

"Ideal for those extra special celebrations we also think this gift will hit the spot if you are too simply too fabulous to queue.

"We do always encourage responsible drinking but you'll be pleased to hear that this novelty gift comes in a fabulous gift box so it's a superb present even if you just want to poke a little fun.

"But you'll be pleased to hear our product testing team were more than satisfied to confirm that it does indeed hold a full bottle of Prosecco so don't be shy to try it out for that big occasion!"
