Few doctors are more popular on TikTok than Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler and the MD has bee doling out useful advice once again. This time he reckons that taking a shower before bed each night is a winner when it comes to getting a good night's sleep. Check it out in the player below:

One of his 1.2 million followers had asked, "What can I do to fall asleep faster?" and the doctor came up with this handy hint.

"If you take a hot shower for just 10 minutes right before you go to bed it can significantly help you fall asleep faster," he said.

That's it, a short shower before bed and apparently you're off to the land of nod. Sounds simple, right? Although slightly annoying if you're already showering every morning. Two showers a day seems a lot.

Naturally his health advice caused a stir among the TikTok faithful, with one user who clearly enjoys a morning shower asking: "I always take hot showers in the morning and I can't weaken [sic] up and I feel slept at work".

Another follower chipped in by saying: "No hot water makes blood flow faster as well blood pressure high. If blood pressure is low you sleepy."

Inevitably as well there were some naysayers, with one user commenting: "I tried it and it just kept me up all night it gave me energy".

Can't please everyone, I suppose

Recently Wachler was also giving advice to people who wanted to grow taller and, although his advice sadly doesn't apply to fully grown adults, kids may want to take note.

In the video, the doc explained: "Only about 60 percent of height is genetics, that means 40 percent are things you can do.

"For example, I'm 6ft 2.5ins and my parents were 5ft 7ins and 5ft 5ins. So I'm gonna tell you the four key things that I did - and that's actually backed up by research."

He added: "Number one, is I slept about eight to nine hours a night, and as a teenager that's really important because that's when your body releases growth hormone and that's when you grow.

"Number two is drinking milk. I drink tons of cow milk, and that actually increases growth hormone too and also helps teenagers grow.

"Number three is lifting weights, which also increases growth hormone. And number four is good posture."

Given he's advocating sleeping for eight or nine hours a night, those seeking to grow an extra centimetre or two may well want to take this showering tip on board too.

After all, it sounds like it may well help you kill two birds with one stone.
