People are joking that The Weeknd's dancers at the Super Bowl wore more face masks than the rest of Florida. Watch many mask-less Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans celebrate the Floridian team's in the streets here:
Prior to the Buccaneers securing a 31-9 victory, The Weeknd performed during the coveted half-time show, surrounded by swathes of dancers with bandaged up faces.
Naturally, it wasn't long before people started to draw comparisons between the amount of face coverings being worn on and off the stage:
This is the most people that have worn masks in Florida in months. pic.twitter.com/oK0tBbMBMY

say what you want about The Weeknd, he probably got the largest group in Florida history to wear masks during a pandemic pic.twitter.com/zXO6MAcvlg

Look at @theweeknd making masks a thing that people wear in Florida! I mean that's got to be a record for mask wearing at a social gathering in Tampa.

there were more people wearing masks during the weeknd's halftime performance than in the entire state of florida :skull::skull::skull::skull:

The #SuperBowl performance by @theweeknd had more masks than the entire state of Florida on a normal day.

My take? I give The Weeknd props. Poor guy had to put on a show to a largely empty stadium and interact with no one.
And, those jock strapped dancers? They're the only people wearing masks in Florida.

-> @TheWeeknd did something no one else has been able to do: get people in Florida to wear masks.

The Weeknd had more masks in his set than the entire state of Florida.

You get the idea. Spare a thought though for the countless people who reckoned for a moment there that they were the only person to have such a witty take on the show.
Of course, the majority of the tweets were meant as light-hearted jokes, but some people felt the need to defend Floridians, many of whom do wear face masks:
It's a funny joke haha but tbh, where I'm at in FL, I still see more people with masks than no masks, so it might just depend what part of the state you're at

Do you live or visited Florida? Or just go by random tweets designed for outrage? Have spent over 5 weeks there this past year - masks mandates in orange and Osceola counties. More masks there than town next to me in MO.

I'm a double masker in Florida. People in the downtown area of Orlando, where I live, are very vigilant. But go one county over (a very red county), and they still think masks are a joke
