An Asda shopper from Scotland was shocked to find a set of false teeth in the pocket of a new coat she bought in store.

Melissa Hopkins treated herself to a £30 puffer jacket from an Asda store in Dumbarton but found a hidden surprise in one of the pockets.

It appears that someone had tried the coat on prior to her purchasing it and for some reason whipped their teeth out and put them in a pocket.

Melissa has since shared an appeal on Facebook to try and reunite the gnashers with their rightful owner.

Posting on Facebook, Melissa said: "Just an appeal to a Dumbarton resident who's lost their bottom teeth.

"I found them in the right pocket of the jacket you returned and I bought from Asda.

"They're back at Asda now if you're wondering, along with the jacket."

Melissa's post has since gone viral and social media users were left reeling by the discovery - one person wrote: "Absolutely no! This is the most horrific thing ever."

Another said: "Naw I'd have s*** it. I am scared eh false teeth."

While a third joked: "So you got a free set of false teeth with the jacket? What a bargain I've heard falsers are quite expensive!"

Melissa, who has since been refunded by the supermarket, managed to see the funny side of the incident.

Replying to one comment she said: "Honestly does this not just sum up my luck in life?"

A spokesperson for Asda told the Sun: ''We know our prices are jaw-dropping but we never expected this!

"We are at a loss to understand how these false teeth appeared in the coat Melissa pulled off the rail and if anyone notices they're struggling with their dinner tonight they can collect their dentures from our Dumbarton store.''

And one woman who could perhaps make good use of those false teeth, is TikTok user Autumn Cathey who recently shared a cautionary tale about the dangers of knocking back too many mimosas.

In a clip shared on TikTok, Autumn explained that she'd had a few too many and thought climbing on her pal's shoulders might be a good idea.

It was not.

The video then cuts to poor Autumn with a bloody face and several missing teeth. Ouch.
