Losing a loved one is an incredibly hard thing for anyone to go through.

The idea that you can never speak to or hear from them again can be difficult to cope with.

And people have different ways of dealing with loss - like this woman who often texted her deceased dad's phone number.

However, she never expected to receive a response.

Known as Kathy, she revealed on Reddit that her dad had passed away in 2020 and she still had his number on her phone.

After a particularly hard day, she sent the number a message, reading: "I miss you everyday." with two heart emojis.

However, her message soon got a response.

It was simply two question marks, but it left Kathy absolutely stunned.

She then replied: "Whoa."

Kathy decided to offer the person some further context, writing: "This is my dad's old phone number, he passed away in 2020.

"Was not expecting a response. Lol".

The stranger was also taken aback, simply saying: "Oh".

Kathy was surprised to get a response.

However, whoever was on the opposite decided to try and make Kathy feel better by asking if she wanted to see their 'kitten bein silly!'

And she was more than happy to see the funny cat snap by writing: "Yes!"

The person then sent them a picture of their cat yawning, to which Kathy reacted to with a heart emoji.

But the text conversation didn't stop there.

Upon asking what the cat's name was, Kathy discovered that his name was Lucky and left in further disbelief.

She revealed to the stranger: "When I was a kid, my dad got us a puppy named Lucky."

They said they wished they could offer her a hug, to which she replied: "This feels like a hug from him."

And this touching moment left commenters in tears, with many believing that it was a sign from her father.

One commented: "Signs are everywhere and you just received one from your father. Hugs to you."

Another said: "Damn good job by the total stranger, they did their best to help. F**king onions man".

A third put: "Aaand now I’m crying," while a fourth said: "That was definitely a hug from him, so special!"

And a fifth wrote: "Dude idc what you believe in whether it’s religious, spiritual, scientific, or nothing. I know a lucky is a somewhat common name but thats not a random coincidence, totally a little sign for you.

"I’m so glad you got to experience this interaction."
