Abbie Chatfield asks why 'disgusting' Kyle Sandilands hasn't been taken off air yet

Abbie Chatfield asks why 'disgusting' Kyle Sandilands hasn't been taken off air yet

The reality TV star-turned radio host says she can't work out 'why he’s not at least being reprimanded'.

Abbie Chatfield has launched an unexpected and scathing attack on fellow radio host Kyle Sandilands.

Sandilands, who has been a staple of Australian radio for decades, has grabbed multiple negative headlines for some of the things he's said while the microphone has been switched on.

This has led the reality TV star-turned radio host to ask why he's still allowed on air despite his many controversial moments.

During an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Chatfield says it's completely lost on her how the 51-year-old still has a job.

"I have no idea [how Sandilands hasn’t been cancelled],” Chatfield told the publication.

“I don’t know why he’s not at least being reprimanded. I don’t know why advertisers still align.

“It’s as baffling to me as it is to everyone else. I don’t know how he can continue.

"What he said during the Paralympics was awful, and then saying one of the night hosts probably had Monkeypox.”

Sandilands has a chequered history of going a little 'too far' during his show, which he co-hosts with Jackie 'O' Henderson on KIIS FM.

He caused a massive outcry when he said the Virgin Mary was completely lying about her celibacy and instead was having sex 'behind the camel shed'.

The shock jock sparked a similar outrage when he said it was too difficult for him to watch some of the events at the Paralympic Games last year.

"Have you been watching the special Olympics (sic), it is horrific some of the things," he said on air.

"I saw some poor bloke who ran for the high jump and veered right because he was blind and landed on his arse, on the ground.

"Then when they were playing soccer, the blind people, I was thinking, are you joking? They're throwing themselves on the ground like sausages to block the ball."

Chatfield, who hosts Hit Network’s Hot Nights With Abbie, says she's had a gutful of Sandiland's comments and how he seemingly hasn't had even a time out for some of the things he's said.

She told News Corp: “I’m sure if someone like Fitzy or Wippa, the loveliest guys in the world, said something like that, they’d get in a lot of s**t."

She added: “People go, ‘well that’s just Kyle’. What he wants is people to call him out, so people are listening to hear what wild thing he’ll say next.

“It’s continually disappointing and continually … disgusting, the things that he says on air.

Kyle has now responded to Abbie's comments and interestingly he didn't get stuck into her.

The radio host said he has no ill feelings towards her and said it was likely the line of questioning from the newspaper that encouraged her to talk about Kyle.

Abbie said she was getting attacked for her comments and Kyle said he doesn't want Ms Chatfield to lose any sleep about it.

He said she's doing a great job with her national show and wishes nothing but the best for her.
