In 1996, Amanda Burton secured the role of Sam Ryan in the BBC’s popular crime drama, Silent Witness.
Burton played the well-liked character of Sam Ryan for eight years, before deciding it was “time to move on” and return to Ireland. However, after a seventeen year hiatus, viewers were pleased to find out that Burton’s character will be returning. She will be reinstated into the show for its huge milestone anniversary: its 25th season.
Burton’s character was hugely influential to the show, making her return highly anticipated. Her fellow actor David Caves spoke to Radio Times about Burton’s return to the crime drama suggesting that her character was integral to the show’s identity.
