We all aspire to live up to our parents' expectations - whether that's landing a great job, providing bountiful grandchildren or just being happy and healthy.

Some kids, however, really take it to the next level showing that, sometimes, the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree at all.

This is exactly the case for cinematic icon Arnold Schwarzenegger's son who has revealed he's finally starting to catch up to his dad when it comes to pumping iron.

Speaking in a recent interview with extratv at the Los Angeles premiere of Fubar, Schwarzenegger's son, Joseph Baena, opened up about his relationship with his dad.

Baena started by revealing the 'best piece of advice' his dad gave him when he first followed in his father's footsteps and entered the world of showbiz.

He said: "I mean, just with anything that I do, but especially with acting, he's really supportive and always, you know, pushing me to work really hard, and then make it my own and, and do it on my own."

The 25-year-old continued: "But his main piece of advice has always been, do the reps - and it sounds just like the gym.

"But it really makes sense because it's all about practice, practice, practice."

The Bully High star added: "The more that you practice, the more that you prepare for these roles, the better you're going to be and, and I've taken that to heart and I've taken that into every role that I've been doing."

Top-notch advice if you ask me.

Later in the interview, Baena disclosed his Terminator dad was also the 'best training partner'.

No surprise there.

What may be a surprise, however, is that the spritely 20-something revealed he is finally 'starting to catch up' with Schwarzenegger at the gym.

"I'm starting to starting to lift a little," he said, "I'm starting to catch up with the weights but, you know, he pushes me so much in the gym and and we love training together."

When asked who was 'stronger' out of the pair, Baena responded: "Right now, I don't want to say but he'll always be the strongest in the family."

The news follows Schwarzenegger sharing what he eats every day on an 80% vegan diet.

On an April episode of his podcast, Arnold's Pump Club, he explained: "For protein, my staples are eggs, salmon and chicken.

"But I have more and more veggie burgers with lentils and beans."

Getting into his daily eating habits, the A-lister said: "In the morning after my workout, I usually have oatmeal with Greek yogurt or granola.

"For lunch, I always have a salad, sometimes with a plant-based burger or maybe salmon or chicken. Other times, it's with a scramble or omelet.

"For dinner, I always have soup. I like to eat light for my last meal."
