Sarah Michelle Gellar calls out photographer for asking her to kiss Buffy co-star David Boreanaz on red carpet
A Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion on the red carpet between Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz was interrupted by a photographer asking them to kiss for the cameras.
Gellar and Boreanaz played Buffy and Angel on the popular TV show (which turns 30 next year) and they were brought back together again at the Emmys, where they posed for pictures together in front of an array of cameras.
Then a photographer shouted: "How about a kiss one time?"
While they'd played a couple on Buffy the Vampire Slayer that's a TV show and in the real world they are very much married to other people, with Gellar shouting back: "I don't think his wife will appreciate that!"

They declined to go along with the photographer's request to lock lips on the red carpet, and instead posed for photos together hand in hand.
One can only imagine the photographer was a huge Buffy/Angel shipper, but Gellar was praised by those who saw the moment for the way she shut it down right away and didn't entertain the nonsense.
She was praised for giving a 'very classy response', while others said the request for two people to kiss for the camera was 'so wrong and uncalled for', as well as being 'such an inappropriate request'.
"Just because they have an onscreen romance, DOES NOT mean they have an offscreen one," another said in response to the moment.
Indeed, Sarah Michelle Gellar has been married to her Scooby-Doo co-star Freddie Prinze Jr since 2002, with them being one on-screen couple that did end up together as they were Daphne and Fred in that movie.
Boreanaz, meanwhile, married current wife Jaime Bergman back in 2001, so they're rather clearly with other people.
They appeared on stage at the Emmys as well, joking about their time on Buffy together, and joking about the pilot for a sequel that wasn't picked up, with Boreanaz quipping 'I always thought Buffy and Angel would end up together' and Gellar firing back 'I guess we won’t find out'.
During their time on stage they also paid tribute to the co-stars who had died, as since February 2025 they'd lost Michelle Trachtenberg, Anthony Head and Nicholas Brendon.
Gellar said: "David and I would like to acknowledge that it has been a tough two years for our beloved cast and crew, and we feel very lucky to have known and worked with such amazing people."
They're not the only celebrities who've called out red carpet photographers for crossing the line.
Last year at Cannes, Denzel Washington reacted after a photographer appeared to grab him as he shouted 'stop it' at the paparazzi, while Superman star David Corenswet intervened when one put their hands on co-star Milly Alcock to move her out of the way and get a clearer shot of him.
