Brendan Fraser '90s Classic Could Be Getting A Sequel After His Epic Comeback

Brendan Fraser '90s Classic Could Be Getting A Sequel After His Epic Comeback

Two of its stars have said they'd be keen to do a sequel

Fan-favourite Brendan Fraser is slap-bang in the middle of a very welcome revival at the moment and now there’s even rumours that he’ll be creating a sequel to one of his beloved 90s classics.

The Brenaissance - as it’s been dubbed - is in full swing, with Fraser set to appear back on the big screen in the upcoming movies Killers of the Flower Moon and Batgirl, as well as wholesome clips of him going viral on a regular basis

Now it seems as though Hollywood might be looking to make a sequel to his 1992 hit Encino Man (California Man in the UK)

The movie centred on caveman Link (played by Fraser) who was perfectly preserved for centuries inside some ice, until two California teens Stoney and Dave (played by Pauly Shore and Sean Astin respectively) thawed him out.

The teens are then tasked with helping Link work his way through modern life.

Now, co-star Shore has revealed that a sequel could be on the cards - and that he would be up for reprising his role if Fraser was onboard.

Speaking to Inverse, Shore said: “I know Disney Plus is talking about possibly doing the sequel.

“If they want me to do it and the script was right and Brendan and Sean were on board and it made sense, I would do it for the fans!

“It’s what George [Zaloom, director] has been working on. So ask him about it.

But before you get too excited, Inverse did get in touch with Zaloom and he was a little less sure on the whole thing.

He said: “If you ask me 'Is there going to be another Encino Man?' I don’t know! I'm not going to say yes. I’m not going to say no. We may be pleasantly surprised.”

And given that we seem to be living in the decade of sequels and reboots, it certainly seems to be a possibility.

Last summer, fellow Encino Man cast member Astin also said he’d be keen on a sequel.

Speaking to ComingSoon, he said: “I have always wanted to see a television series about Betty Nugs, who was the female cave person that was resurrected from the swimming pool at the end of the movie.

“So I think it absolutely should happen. If they make a sequel, I’d be more than happy to play a part.”

Come on Brendan, we’re all just waiting on you now.
