After the train crash which destroyed Poplar, fans of the BBC show anxiously awaited the series conclusion on 20th February 2022, as viewers tuned in to await the fates of Dr Turner (Stephen McGann) and Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter).

Both characters luckily survived the force of the crash, though, they did not escape unscathed.

Dr Turner suffered from a head injury following the incident, while Sister Julienne sustained broken ribs and what appeared to be a heart attack.

Meanwhile, Nurse Crane arrived back early from her trip to save the day, after being called to the rescue by Miss Higgins.

Viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the “emotional” series finale.

“Still feel like I am emotionally recovering from the #CallTheMidwife #greatpotterythrowdown combination last night,” Katy wrote. “What perfect television.”

Another fan of the show reflected on the season ending: “Call the Midwife always manages to tug heartstrings.”

Meanwhile, another viewer noted the perfect timing of a delivery arriving “just as” she was watching the show.

“@goustocooking delivery arrived just as I was finishing watching #CallTheMidwife answering the door with tears streaming down my face was not a good look,” @ClaireElliott2 said.

Elsewhere, a different fan of the show was still annoyed that there was a train crash on the show in the first place.

“I’m still a bit miffed that Call The Midwife had a train crash. This isn’t Corrie, seeing babies is playing with my emotions enough,” Sarah penned.
