The celebrated singer, songwriter and record producer, Calvin Harris is worth £300 million, according to various reports.
Best known for his songs ‘Summer’, ‘One Kiss’ and ‘Feels’, Harris has risen to fame for his catchy and club worthy tunes.
Whilst wealth is one thing, there’s another deeply personal fact about Calvin that most fans may not know; Calvin Harris changed his name when he was 22. The musician used to be called Adam Richard Wiles but rebranded himself as Calvin Harris to match his ‘soulful’ music’. According to an interview with shortlist in 2009, the name Calvin Harris was more “racially ambiguous”.
Besides this major bombshell, the scott was born in Dumfries in 1984 to Biochemist, David Wiles and Housewife, Pamela Wiles.
Harris was always enamoured by music, and took a particular interest in electronic music during his early teens. He saved up and worked as a shelf stacker in order to afford DJ equipment.
His hard work paid off and in 2013, Harris grossed an estimated $46 million becoming the highest paid DJ. Harris has played at humorous festivals and made headline appearances at T in The Park, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival and Creamfields.
Like most A Listers, the palatial mansions of Beverly Hills were the natural next step. In 2014 he paid $14 million for a 10 bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills. To enlarge and widen his property portfolio, Harris purchased DJ Stevel Angello’s home in Hollywood for $5 million in 2017. This was later sold in 2020 for $5.1 million. It was perhaps not quite the profit that Harris intended, but a sale nonetheless.
Aside from his money making endeavours, Harris has a soft and caring side to him that extends to generous philanthropy. He has performed for numerous charitable causes for charities aimed at curbing teen suicide as well as those combatting homelessness in Scotland.
Harris is an exemplary musician: not only is he ambitious and talented, he also gives back to charitable causes that are close to his heart.
