Kanye West's presidential campaign has already thrown us a few twists and turns, but in his latest bombshell he's announced he'd like fellow rapper Jay-Z to be his vice president - despite having already named a running mate.

Kanye had previously said Wyoming preacher Michelle Tidball would be the person running together with him on his presidential ticket.

However, in an interview with blogger and radio host Kris Kaylin, West said he now has someone else in mind for the role, saying Tidball would simply have to assume another position.

Kanye said: "I reached out to Jay to possibly be my vice president, my running mate.

"We have Michelle Tidball, who is a Christian pastor out of Wyoming, who is my running mate. But she would be open to taking another position if we found another running mate."

Kanye was speaking to Kaylin ahead of his eventful rally in South Carolina, which involved everything from tears to promises of a million dollars for anyone who has a baby.

The 43-year-old, who had '2020' shaved into his hair for the occasion, announced on social media earlier this month that he'd be making a bid to take the US Presidency from the clutches of Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Shutting down reports he'd abandoned the idea, Kanye packed out the Exquis Event Centre in North Charleston, South Carolina, for his campaign rally on Sunday (19 July).

While he covered a number of topics, the star appeared to become most emotional when he started talking about abortion - a subject that can divide the voting public.

He revealed he is against the procedure, but still thinks it should be legal, recalling how he and wife Kim Kardashian nearly aborted their first child North West, but eventually decided against it.

He told the crowd: "I called my wife and she said, 'We're gonna have this baby'.

"I know people that are 50 years old that didn't have children, that have never been able to experience the level of joy that I experienced having a child.

"So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn't want to. She stood up and she protected that child.

"You know who else protected a child? Who do you think might have protected a child? My mum saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mum saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West, because my dad was too busy!"

At this point, Kanye started breaking down in tears. He continued to explain that, while he doesn't want to change the rules around abortion in America, he does feel there needs to be more support for people who decide to have children - even saying parents should receive $1 million (£790,000) if they have a baby.
