The 71-year-old gained permanent residency in the country just before lockdown and has moved into a home north of Auckland with his wife Liz and their 16-year-old son. While that in itself may come as a bit of a surprise, it's quite possibly the whole 'radio station for houseplants' bit that needs some clarification.

Basically, he's decided to set up a 'positivity' radio network in his new home , with one station playing 'healing frequencies', another playing tunes for dogs and cats, and of course 'Positively Plants' - music for your houseplants.

Answering the big question of 'why?', Edmonds told The Mail on Sunday: "We ran an experiment with two plants, one of which we neglected and the other we played Positively Plants to.

"The difference was absolutely amazing, and then we played those tones, because it's all about tones, we played those tones to the plant that didn't look so good, and it perked up again."

That's that explained then. No more questions, your honour.

The whole moving to New Zealand thing may seem particularly surprising to you if you heard the veteran TV presenter vehemently deny he was moving to the country shortly after being voted off I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018.

Responding the reports, he shared a video online in which he said: "The house that I have in the UK was put on the market a couple of years ago and is now sold, and they were told all this last week and they've still run the story that apparently I'm going to skulk off to New Zealand. It is absolutely disgusting lies."

Addressing this seeming U-turn, he said: "[It had been] suggested in the most horrible terms that I had suffered some form of mental breakdown after I was voted out of the jungle."

So it was the 'mental breakdown' that was the 'disgusting lie', not the moving to New Zealand part.

The actual reason he relocated to the other side of the world is to get away from it all - and because of some kind of spiritual pull.

According to Newshub, he told Magic Talk radio: "Liz and I had this incredible spiritual pull in 2016. We had never been to the land of the long white cloud and we had the most unbelievably powerful experience - we both felt we had come home.

"We went back to the UK and sold up and we now have full residency status - we're very honoured.

"One of the things I love about Kiwis - [they're] not interested in celebrities. I went to the shop the other week and a woman saw me and said, 'You were on the telly last night'. Me being me, I said 'Oh, was I?'

"And she said, 'I know who you are and I like you - don't be like that,' and it was just such a funny exchange because then she just took her potatoes and left."

Imagine that, bumping into Noel Edmonds while buying potatoes and not grabbing a selfie before parting. Madness.
