Riley Reid has opened up about what her parents think about her career in the adult entertainment industry.

The 33-year-old rose to fame after getting her start in pornography in 2010.

Since then, she went on to win 40 awards and has become one of the most recognisable faces in the adult industry.

Reid - whose real name is Ashley Matthews - has previously shared the impact of her job on her personal life, and confessed that her career in porn soured her relationship with her own mother, admitting she 'doesn't have a mum any more'.

However, things seem to be getting better for the now OnlyFans content creator.

Speaking on the Just Trish Podcast with YouTuber Trisha Paytas last year, Reid opened up about her personal life.

Having gotten married to Pasha Petkuns in 2021- who isn't bothered about her X-rated past - and then welcoming their baby girl, Emma, in 2022, life is certainly different for her now.

Paytas asked if Reid was close with her family, specifically her parents.

She said that her dad lives ‘in Georgia’ and that she was ‘actually talking to him on the phone today - on my way to the hour-long drive’.

Reid explained: “I wasn't close with any of my family once I got into porn, they kind of all disowned me and I disowned them and there was just, like, [there] wasn't a relationship and nobody could quite understand why I made the decision, nor could they understand that I was like happy and thriving.

“They just decided for me that I was miserable and unsuccessful.”

Sharing a moment in which she recalled being freaked out by a family member who didn’t understand her career, she said: “I remember like my auntie crying, calling, and I was like ‘Why are you crying, like you're acting like I'm here against my will, like this is really bizarre and you're freaking me out with your own issues’.”

Calling it ‘weird’ because she wasn’t using the family name and so couldn’t be traced back to her family, Reid shared that although those things happen, she now has a ‘pretty good’ relationship with her dad.

Crediting the reunion to the birth of her daughter, she said that she was also to mend her relationship with her mother too.

Reid continued: “I was like, well, if my daughter has a kid and she's p*ssed off at me and she's like, ‘you're not going to meet kid’, I would be so heartbroken.”

That’s why she ‘forced’ herself to begin talking to her mum and now, she admits that she’s ‘enjoying’ her conversations with her mum.

For Reid, it’s ‘important for me to show Emma that I value myself’ enough to ‘not put myself in these toxic environments even though it's my family’.

She said: “I'm not going to let myself feel succumbed by guilt or pressure in society to force a relationship to happen that is not healthy.”
