Explaining she's currently in the UK, Silverstone shared a video on TikTok, in which she asked followers to help her identify a fruit she had eaten off the street.

“OK, I’ve discovered something that I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help," she said.

“I just bit into it because it was on the street, and we were discussing whether it was a tomato or not.

“So what the heck is this?”

Admitting she later realised she probably shouldn't have eaten the unidentified fruit, she added: “I don’t think you’re supposed to eat this.

“But it’s almost like a pepper. Does anyone know what this is? I don’t know what it is.”

In the caption, she added: “What the heck is this!? I’m in England and can’t figure it out.”

People were pretty shocked after watching the video, with many pointing out the dangers of eating berries off the side of the road.

After panning the camera to the plant, Silverstone explained it definitely wasn't a tomato plant due to the leaves.

The unidentified fruit certainly looks a little like a tomato, but is filled with seeds, rather like a pepper.

Silverstone then bit into the fruit again, despite explaining she didn't think she was actually supposed to be consuming it.

TikTok was pretty quick to identify the fruit as a Jerusalem Cherry, which is toxic.

According to Medline Plus, poisoning occurs when someone eats pieces of the plant, including the fruit and leaves.

"The effects of Jerusalem cherry poisoning mostly affect the primarily gastrointestinal (often delayed 8 to 10 hours), and central nervous system," the site explains.

"This type of poisoning can be very dangerous. Other symptoms may include:

  • Abdominal pain or stomach pain
  • Delirium (agitation and confusion)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dilated pupils
  • Fever
  • Hallucinations
  • Headache
  • Loss of sensation
  • Lower than normal body temperature (hypothermia)
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Paralysis
  • Shock
  • Slow pulse
  • Slowed breathing
  • Vision changes

"The faster you get medical help, the better the chance for recovery."

Naturally, fans have been pretty concerned about Silverstone, especially considering she hasn't posted since the video.

One wrote: "Can someone tag me when we know she's OK."

While another said: "Is Alicia ok??? We need an update!"

And a third added: "Okay it is 7am in England, can you give us an update PLEASE. just a quick 'hey I’m okay!'”

LADbible has reached out to Silverstone's rep for comment.
