People are only just finding out who Angelina Jolie’s very famous dad is

While it might be common knowledge among many, the reality of a very famous actor’s very famous family often comes as a surprise to some.

Like the fact that Angelina Jolie is the daughter of a pretty big Hollywood name.

Yep, the Maleficent, Mr & Mrs Smith and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star is, in fact, a nepo baby alongside the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Maya Hawke and Zoë Kravitz.

I mean, you know, as Paltrow said, nepo babies have to ‘work twice as hard’. Sure.

And while Jolie has earned the right to be known for her impressive list of film credits, there is no denying her dad is pretty impressive on screen, too. Who is he? I hear some of you ask, well, it’s only Mission Impossible actor, Jon Voight.

X (Twitter) users previously expressed their absolute surprise as they wrote: "Jon Voight is Angelina Jolie’s dad ? wtf."

"No but is there anyone in Hollywood that isn’t a nepotism baby? why am i only just finding out that Angelina Jolie’s dad is Jon Voight?? (condolences to her for that btw) [sic]," another wrote.

A third commented: "WHY DID I JUST LEARN THAT ANGELINA JOLIE'S DAD IS JON VOIGHT?!?!? I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE BEEN THIS CLUELESS FOR 23 YEARS OH MY GOD."

Voight's acting career first took off back in the late 1960s when he starred in Midnight Cowboy as Joe Buck.

He's also featured in films such as Deliverance (1972), Zoolander (2001) and even alongside his daughter in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001).

As well as acting for film, Voight has also starred in several television shows and theatrical productions, from Western drama series Gunsmoke to an Off-Broadway revival of A View From A Bridge.

As well as Jolie, Voight also has a son named James Haven, who shares the same mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, as Jolie. He is also an actor.

This all got dragged up when social media users debated nepo babies due to a conversation around Sydney Sweeney's mum.

Sweeney spoke out in defence of her mum after she hosted a 'MAGA-inspired' birthday party. The Sweeney family was slammed online for their alleged political ties, specifically after someone was seen at the party wearing a 'blue lives matter' shirt.

And X users similarly used this to point out Voight’s controversial political ties, having publicly spoken out in support of US President Donald Trump.

One Twitter user wrote: "If ya’ll are mad at Sydney, just wait until you find out about Angelina Jolie’s dad."

Another said: "People still cape for Woody Allen and Johnny Depp, yet Sydney Sweeney is getting attacked over her family's inconsequential politics? You ever ask Angelina Jolie about *her* dad's politics?"

Voight is, of course, now the United States Special Ambassador to Hollywood as a result of his relationship with Trump.
