Ariana Grande's mum shows support after singer announces break from public eye amid 'ongoing public scrutiny'
Ariana Grande’s mum has shown support for her daughter after it was announced she’d be ‘taking a step back’ from the public eye amid ‘endless ongoing public scrutiny’.
The 33-year-old is currently embarking on her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which is set to draw to a close in London next month.
On Sunday (2 August), a representative for the Wicked star revealed that once the tour was done and dusted, Grande would be taking a break for an undisclosed period of time.
“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” the rep told PEOPLE.

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”
They added: “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
The announcement was made just days after she released her eighth studio album Petal, and also dropped the music video for her new track of the same name.
The video, which comes with an 'explicit content' and 'graphic violence' warning, Grande playing a character called Pepper, who goes through a series of gruelling Hollywood auditions and facing rounds of rejections before eventually snapping and brutally butchering the execs.
The new video renewed the discourse surrounding Grande’s body and health, with Jameela Jamil taking aim at the singer’s team.
Now, amid all the ongoing talk, Grande’s mum Joan has shown her support for her famous daughter.
Commenting on Grande’s latest Instagram post, which has a selection of behind the scenes shots of the Petal music video, Joan wrote: “You are magnificent… and this video is incredible!!
“I love it and I love you more!!!”
Grande has pulled out of a West End show
Grande was due to appear alongside her Wicked co-star in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, which was set to open in the Barbican next summer.
However, it’s since been confirmed that Grande will no longer star in the musical.
Empire Street Productions, which is behind the musical, said in a statement: “Following this evening’s announcement from Ariana Grande’s team, we can confirm that she has decided to step back from Sunday In The Park With George.
“We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support. We wish her nothing but the best. The production will open at the Barbican in summer 2027 as planned, and casting will be announced in due course.”
Grande was just 16 when she shot to fame playing Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon show Victorious and she has been in the public eye ever since.
After leaving Nickelodeon, she carved out a very impressive music career, winning three Grammy awards.
She then returned to acting playing Glinda the good, in Wicked opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba.
Her performance in the flick earned Grande an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress.
Grande had been set to appear in American Horror Story Season 13, but last month it was reported that she had dropped due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ with her ongoing tour.
The next time fans will see Grande on screen will be in Focker In-Law, where she’ll star alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. The movie is set to land in cinemas in November.
