Bruce Willis' wife Emma makes rare comment about relationship as she shares update on his dementia diagnosis
Emma Heming Willis says there is still a lot of fun to be had with husband Bruce, despite his dementia diagnosis.
Sharing a rare glimpse into life with the Die Hard star, the 50-year-old told Hello Magazine that there is still a 'sense of joy and fun' between Bruce and his family.
"We’ve always been a family that finds joy and fun in the littlest things, and that philosophy is precisely what has served us best as we’ve navigated this path," the former model explained.
"Our daughters are still young and say the most hilarious things. And Bruce is really funny too – he still says things that make us laugh."

Emma shares daughters Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12 with Bruce, who also has daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore.
Keen to clarify that the family are only ever laughing with the 71-year-old actor, she continued: "We’ve managed to protect that sense of joy and fun simply because it’s still very much there."
She also revealed that the family are all united in their support for Willis in a way which is 'healthy' for them, adding: "The key lies in understanding that I am part of a family where every single one of us has decided to show up for Bruce, always looking for a way that is healthy for everyone.
"Each one of us has their own relationship with him that's unique and special."
Despite the moments of joy which the blended family shares, Emma acknowledged that her husband's illness is still 'extremely difficult and painful' for everyone.
"But FTD is a devastating illness that steals things from you very slowly. So the reality is that you find yourself constantly in a state of grief," she said.
Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023, a year after he made the decision to retire from Hollywood due to aphasia.
According to the NHS, FTD is a rare form of dementia which causes problems with a person's behaviour and language. This includes personality changes, with FTD patients known to act inappropriately, impulsively or in a manner which appears selfish.
In September 2025, Emma made the difficult decision for Bruce to be moved to a separate home specially designed to accommodate his needs.
The single-story home is said to be close to the Willis family's main residence and allows for the actor to have round-the-clock care. Emma has since defended the decision against online backlash, saying the move was 'the safest and best decision' for both Willis and his children.
"I know that Bruce has the best care 100% of the time. His needs are met 100% of the time," she told Good Morning America last year, adding: "So I'm not gonna take a vote on that."
