Charli XCX had a response ready for Gordon Ramsay while they were on the sofa together for The Graham Norton Show.

They were both on the show recently as the celebrity chef has got his Netflix documentary Being Gordon Ramsay to promote, and the host wasn't about to miss a chance to chat to him about Charli XCX's album Brat.

It was so defining that the middle of 2024 was labelled 'brat summer', at least if you're keeping track of these sorts of things, and Gordon said his daughters Megan, 27, Holly, 26, and Tilly, 24, had developed 'attitude in abundance' and a 'loud volume' thanks to the brat spirit.

“I think the older you get, the lower you want the volume," he said, but since he was sat beside the architect of brat summer she wasn't about to let that go without saying something.

Charli, real name Charlotte Aitchison, quipped back 'I feel like they could have got that from you, though, let’s be honest' to remind the chef of the reputation he's gained from his TV shows.

She got a laugh out of the chef as the Kitchen Nightmares star admitted 'you're right' and Graham Norton chimed in to say things had been 'brat kitchen for some time'.

To be fair to Gordon, he can talk about how he's liking the volume down more the older he gets but the thing lots of people associate him with is swearing loudly in kitchens.

Granted, he often had good reason to be swearing loudly in kitchens when he found people working in them who couldn't cook and kept decaying meat in the same box as the stuff they were serving to the customers.

Plus there's his appearances on shows where kids are doing the cooking and he's a lot nicer with them, as he typically reserves his tirades for those who ought to be old enough and professional enough to know better.

Still, if someone tells you to turn down the volume and you realise it's Gordon Ramsay you might start wondering a bit.

As for what his documentary Being Gordon Ramsay is about, the title is rather self-explanatory.

In the six-episode series the chef is cracking on with his new project in London where he spoke about a number of subjects including his brother's heroin addiction.

Talking about the documentary, Ramsay told LADbible the final meeting with his father was in a ‘tiny little s**thole’ in Margate which he sometimes went back to look at.

Being Gordon Ramsay is available to stream on Netflix.
