Ahead of the release of season four of Clarkson’s Farm, many fans will be curious just how much Jeremy Clarkson earns from the show.

Whilst the TV star has worked hard to try and make sure the Diddly Squat farm turns a profit, there is a silent factor playing in the background – the fact that Amazon have paid the former Top Gear star millions of pounds for the show.

Though Clarkson has admitted that every time someone eats in his pub it costs him £10, the pub has likely paid for itself through maintaining interest in the show, one of Prime’s most popular.

When asking whether the proverbial chicken or egg came first when it comes to Clarkson’s Farm, in this case we actually have a definitive answer.

Clarkson actually bought the farm years prior to the show beginning, making the purchase in 2008 following the economic crash.

When the farmer running the land retired, Clarkson decided to take over, getting the idea to document his experience.

When the show began in 2021, Clarkson’s stock off the back of The Grand Tour and Top Gear was arguably at an all-time high.

As a result, The Mirror reports that he negotiated an eye-watering contract for the first three season’s of the show.

Clarkson reportedly earned £160 million in a three season deal with Amazon to produce Clarkson’s Farm for Prime Video.

In addition to a rumoured £10 million a year he continued to receive for The Grand Tour,

The star’s Diddly Squat farm initially made very little profit, making just £114 following the conclusion of the first season.

He was also faced with major obstacles in the latter seasons of the series, particularly season three in which several piglets shockingly died.

Despite this, Diddly Squat farm has turned into a money-maker for Clarkson.

As of last year, the farm had made a total profit of £72,601.

His pub, however, has not been quite as profitable an endeavour for the TV star.

Speaking in his Sunday Times column, Clarkson revealed that every customer that eats at his The Farmer’s Dog pubs costs him £10, and even spoke about one of the biggest barriers to turning a profit.

One of the biggest issues Clarkson has faced is his commitment to only using British produce and drinks, causing certain items to be far more expensive.

Another surprising issue, however, is theft, with the TV star saying: “Behind the scenes, then, everything is a total disaster. But the fact is that when you go there you just wouldn't know.

“The theft, for example, is extraordinary. People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint, they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.

“Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back.”
