Demi Lovato celebrated her birthday with iconic meme on her cupcakes

The meme was first spawned in 2015, when the former Disney star was captured in an unflattering photo at a red carpet event.

Demi Lovato has celebrated her 31st birthday with cupcakes honouring her hilarious 'Poot' meme.

The singer marked another trip around the sun over the weekend with edible mini cakes honouring her twisted twin sister 'Poot Lovato'.

The meme was first spawned in October 2015 when the former Disney star was captured in an unflattering photo at a red carpet event.

The picture began making the rounds on social media and the internet joked the image was not actually her Demi but the singer’s alter ego.

And it looks like the pop star has a good sense of humour as she's poked fun at the meme on her special day.

In a 13-second video she posted to TikTok, the 31-year-old showed her series of birthday cakes.

In the clip, she unveiled the first, a silver heart-shaped cake with the singer’s age crafted on the front.

The second is a cookie cake with a rainbow border bearing her name.

However, she saves the best till last.

“This one is so POOT,” she says as she pans to cupcakes with the infamous photo printed on them.

Many were left rather amused by the cupcakes, as one user wrote: “she’s sooooo real for this.”

Another said: “Poot Lovato shaped an entire generation.”

A third shared: “Poot my spirit animal.”

While another joked: “I feel like eating a picture of yourself that’s ugly will manifest and make you uglier.”

The ‘La La Land’ singer has previously opened up about the meme in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, revealing that she has mixed feelings regarding the meme.

"When Poot went viral, that actually sucked because I thought that was a real picture of me. And I was like, oh no, that's a really bad angle. But Poot was photoshopped. Later I felt better about it because I realized that wasn't my face," she told the outlet.

According to Mashable, when the image first surfaced, Lovato penned in a since-deleted tweet that it was ‘Cool to see a s***ty angle turn into a meme that circulates the Internet to people's amusement ha’.

We detect a sense of sarcasm here.

However, now she’s learnt to take the joke in her stride.

"It was definitely weird when it went viral," she continued, adding the meme is now ‘really funny to look back on.’
