Denise Welch went up to bat for her son after he was allegedly branded a 'c**t' by a council worker in a row over his bins.

The Loose Women star, 67, took her beef over the bins to social media after claiming that her family's attempts to remedy the situation had 'failed'.

She claimed that one of her kids - who she shares with former husband Tim Healy - got quite the mouthful from a refuse collector when they complained that their rubbish hadn't been taken away in weeks.

Welch is mum to the frontman of The 1975, 36-year-old Matty Healy, as well as her younger son Louis, 25, who is an actor.

And when she got wind of the alleged heated exchange that took place between one of her boys and a bin man from Brent Council, she wasn't going to let it slide.

So, on Monday (30 March), she shared a post on X in regards to the row over her son's unemptied bins.

Former Celebrity Big Brother star Welch wrote: "Hi @‌brent_council. You haven't emptied my son's bins in 3 weeks. Any attempts at due process has failed.

"He tried to talk to a collector who called him a c**t!! Can you let me know how we move forward!!!!"

As you can imagine, this sparked a lot of chatter online - as well as a host of speculation about which of her sons she was referring to.

Brent Council quickly got back to her with a response to her post, which read: "Hi Denise, we are very sorry to hear about your son’s experience.

"If you could DM us the address, we will look into this as a matter of urgency."

The local authority covers areas of west and north-west London, including districts such as Kenton, Kilburn, Willesden, Wembley and Harlesden.

Welch shared an update on the bin saga a few hours after her original post, which she has since deleted.

She told her more than 535,000 followers: "So @Brent_Council has responded thank you. And I appreciate all of your comments which have made me laugh."

LADbible has contacted Brent Council for comment.

The majority of social media users seemed to think the rubbish row was quite hilarious, as one commented: "Made me laugh too!"

Another wrote: "The comments were priceless!!!"

A third joked: "We will all sleep well tonight Denise."

And a fourth inquisitive fan asked: "Now that's confirmed could you confirm which son please as it's causing major upset in your comments not knowing."

For those wondering why Welch was fighting the bin battle for one of her adult son's, the actress previously revealed that she sees herself as a 'helicopter parent'.

Psychology Today explains that this term refers to 'typically well-meaning but over-involved parents who engage in protective behaviours that are not appropriate for their child’s age and ability level'.

In a column for The i Paper which she wrote last March, Welch joked that she 'spend every day hovering over [her kids] heads like the Flying Eye'.

"The radar is on full alert at all times and I insert myself into any aspect of their lives I can squeeze into," she said. "Totally uninvited, I swoop in with military precision to offer advice and solutions to problems they don’t have."

Welch said she 'also feels the need to talk to them every day' and isn't scared of blowing their phones up when they don't get back to her quickly enough.

"I ask myself why I became a later-life helicopter mum," she continued. "I think it’s because I didn’t need constant assurance when they were little that I was the most important person in their lives and now they’re grown, I do.

"I know how much they love me but I also know they don’t need me to be their life momager, the 'Poundland Kris Jenner' Matty once called me. Honestly.

"I’m a very proud mum, and although they hope every day that my helicopter licence will be revoked, I know I am always just one hover away from saving the day!"
