Dick and Dom respond to brutal 'In Da Bungalow' moment that people still feel cruel for laughing at today

The beloved Brit double act shared their thoughts on the pony prank which aired more than 20 years ago

Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood really put the 'd*ck' into 'Dick and Dom' during one particular episode of their hit CBBC show.

The self-proclaimed 'rulers of chaos and controversy' certainly pushed the boundaries of kids TV, but one of their onscreen pranks really took the biscuit in the eyes of a lot of viewers.

It involved a pony, a plucky young horse rider, and what some would call a truly cruel twist - as the pair royally p**sed on this child's cornflakes when she arrived in da Bungalow on one Saturday morning in October 2004.

Speaking to LADbible, the dynamic double act shared their side of the story about what happened when they teasingly offered a young contestant a pony on their hit show.

Take a look at the moment here if you need a reminder:

During the fourth season of Dick and Dom In da Bungalow, a schoolgirl named Zoe became a beloved 'Bungalow Head' for the weekend - and the envy of every kid in the UK at the time.

The wind up merchants greeted her at the door and introduced her to viewers, explaining that her 'favourite thing in the whole wide world is horse riding'.

"We like to make dreams come true here in da Bungalow, you may have noticed," Dom then said. "What would be your absolute dream?"

As expected, little Zoe explained that she would love to have a horse of her very own...or failing that, a pony would do.

Right on cue, a pony then trotted into da Bungalow with a handler - much to Zoe's delight - while the presenters continued to amp up the theatrics.

Dom then asked: "And what would you say if we gave it to you?"

The beaming schoolgirl sweetly told the pair she'd give them a 'big massive thank you' - only for the rug to be pulled out from underneath her live on national TV.

"Well, it might have to wait for another time because that's not yours," Dom savagely said while sending the pony on its way, as Dick folded into fits of giggles.

It's been more than 20 years since the mischief makers crushed Zoe's dreams of becoming a pony owner, but a large amount of the British public still 'feel bad' for laughing at her misfortune.

In a post on X reacting to the footage which has gone viral in recent weeks, one person said: "Mate...naaa! This is wicked! I’m going to hell for laughing!"

Another joked: "She was holding in the most outrageous crash out. Definitely a Bond villain now."

A third laughed: "Back when being an absolute menace was allowed. Their bogies games were so ridiculous too."

While a fourth said of the clip: "Why did I laugh…that was actually disgusting...I’m still laughing."

As you can see, a lot of people still have conflicted feelings about the pony prank - but Dick and Dom don't.

Speaking to LADbible, the pair gave their side of the story about the clip that's been 'doing the rounds' on social media and whether they felt even the slightest bit guilty about it all.

"She was laughing about it after," Dick, 49, recalled. "It was all tongue-in-cheek. We weren’t trying to be horrible, it was just stupid - which is why it was funny!"

Dom, 47, agreed, adding: "When you applied to be on the show you knew exactly what the tone of it was, the parents knew what the tone of the show was…you knew you were in for a bit of a ride.

"But ultimately, everyone left that show having had the best weekend of their lives. They couldn’t wait to go back to school and tell everyone they had actually been on da Bungalow."

According to these two, the kids all went home with a heart full of memories and 'a lot of Haribo' in their stomachs. So just as we all thought while watching from home, the Bungalow Heads really were living their best lives.

Although they're not burdened by the guilt of pulling savage pranks on minors, Dick and Dom are somewhat repenting for their onscreen sins by lending a hand to the generation that made them household names.

The icons from our childhood have partnered with Google's AI Gemini to launch their new social series, Dick & Dom in Da Rented Flat, which made its online debut on Instagram last Wednesday (1 October).

The duo, who shared several flats together as well as da Bungalow, want to show fans how Google’s AI tool can coach even the most clueless renter through simple DIY fixes, helping them keep hold of their hard-earned cash.

"We know what it’s like when you’ve given a massive deposit to a landlord and you lose some of it when you try to get it back because you’ve not done those little fixes," Dick told LADbible.

"Like cleaning the oven, filling in the holes on the wall…really tiny little things that we could have saved money on. A lot of people just shy away from DIY because they don’t think they can do it, which is why Google Gemini is amazing because it can tell you what to do."
