Swifties will not have seen Donald Trump's reaction to her engagement coming.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce revealed in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday (26 August) that 'your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married'.
The pair started dating in 2023 and went public in October of that year after the singer began showing up at Chiefs games.

Her relationship with Trump, however, has always been a weird one - at least on his side of things, with the US president saying that he liked Taylor in 2012.
Then six years later, the record-breaking songwriter urged fans to vote against Republican Marsha Blackburn during the Tennessee midterm race, calling her 'Trump in a wig'.
"I like Taylor’s music about 25 percent less now," Trump told White House reporters at the time.
And things certainly turned sour when Taylor endorsed his political opponent, former vice president Kamala Harris, last year.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time… She’s a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat," he said on Fox and Friends. Days later, he added on Truth Social: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"
Just earlier this month, he also penned: "Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!)."
After all that, Trump has seemingly changed his tune on the chart topper following her engagement to Kelce.
Watch below:
During a long cabinet meeting on Tuesday (26 August), where he again suggested that Americans might 'like a dictator', he was asked by a reporter about their engagement announcement.
“Well, I wish them a lot of luck,” he replied. “I think it’s, I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person.

“So I wish them a lot of luck.”
A bit odd, eh?
It comes after Trump compared Swift to actor Sydney Sweeney, who was criticised for her recent American Eagle advert.

Critics online accused the ad of using language rooted in eugenics, which, according to the National Human Genome Research Institute, is a false belief that humanity can be improved by selective breeding.

According to The Guardian, Sweeney has been registered as a Republican voter in Florida since June 2024, although she hasn't publicly disclosed which political party she aligns herself with.
“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there,” Trump said on Truth. “It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are ‘flying off the shelves.’”
"Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift," he continued, adding that she 'was booed out of the Super Bowl and became NO LONGER HOT'.
