Gordon Ramsay has revealed he resorts to 'torturous' methods to avoid overindulging while working as a chef.
Say the words 'TV chef' and one of the first people who springs to mind is probably Ramsay, a man who's made a career out of calling people 'idiot sandwiches' and 'f**king donkeys' on our screens, reinforcing the stereotype that having a fiery temper is integral to being a chef.
However, when he's not flipping out at horrendously mismanaged kitchens, Ramsay is dedicated to keeping himself fit and healthy – a task which probably isn't the easiest when your job revolves around eating food.
In a conversation with SAS: Who Dares Wins star Jason Fox for Men's Health, the 59-year-old shared an insight into his daily routine, which involves some very strict rules when it comes to enjoying rich and indulgent meals.

"We are super disciplined," he explained. "I'll eat two mouthfuls of a delicious dish and then ignore it, and it's painful."
Which doesn't sound too difficult in theory, but think of all the times you've said you'll just eat one piece of chocolate and ended up demolishing the whole bar.
Turn the chocolate bar into a plate of luxurious food cooked by one of the world's best chefs, and you can see how it would feel like torture not to polish off the entire plate.

"You sit there like a green-eyed monster desperate to devour that whole plate and I'll discipline myself to two mouthfuls, then I'll get out of that plate and it pains me because I know if I eat a fourth, fifth, or sixth mouthful, then that's it, it's game over," he continued.
"It's the discipline that drives me, the discipline of saying 'two mouthfuls, then get out of there'."
The adherence to such rigorous rules has clearly helped the TV presenter and Michelin-starred chef, as he's been able to lose three stone by overhauling his diet and training his body for gruelling ultra-marathons.

However, Ramsay was keen to stress that healthy eating doesn't necessarily need to be turning your diet into a mix of boiled potatoes, rice and unseasoned chicken, adding: "Good food doesn't have to be boring food, and healthy food never has to be fad food."
So what does the average day look like for the Hell's Kitchen star? It's a combination of various proteins, shaken, poached or scrambled.
"I love eating. We have a protein shake in the morning, scrambled eggs for lunch, and then something poached for dinner, whether it's poached chicken or fish," he said.
"We don't do lots of salads, but it's finding that balance."
