Gordon Ramsay was left speechless over how much he was charged for a meal during his wife's birthday celebrations out in Cannes.
Even the man with eight Michelin stars across five restaurants still gets shocked by how expensive a meal out is getting.
An OpenTable survey revealed that Brits tend to eat out around 1.5 times a week and spend up to £53 per meal.
And although it can cost over £100 per person to eat at his three-star restaurant, Ramsay still knows when an eatery is potentially taking the p**s over food prices.

Ahead of the launch of Burger King’s Wagyu meal, he recalled to LADbible what happened when he was out for his wife Tana’s birthday dinner in the south of France.
'What the f**k is going on?'

“We sat in a hotel in Cannes, and she had a lobster because she loves lobsters. It’s a treat, it's her birthday,” Ramsay said, revealing that they charged a whopping €220 (£190) for a lobster.
“And I'm not a penny-pincher and I'm not tight, OK, I never question the bill. But €220, what the f**k is going on?”

With Tana struggling to finish it, the celebrity chef said he 'grabbed it and ate it' because he didn't want it going to waste.
“If my mum heard that I'd paid €220 for a lobster main course in the south of France she would kick my ass,” he says. “She doesn't even spend that a month on her shopping.”
One thing you should never order

The Hell’s Kitchen star said in an interview with Town & Country magazine that you should never order a starter on the 'specials' list.

"Ask what yesterday's soup du jour was before today's special," he said. "It may be the case that it's the soup du month."
In a previous conversation with the Daily Mail that diners ought to be wary of any places boasting about the quality of their food, using words like 'famous' or 'best in the country' without any evidence.
However, his top tip is to not order pretty much anything off the specials board, particularly if it looks like there's a lot of options on there.
He said: "Specials are there to disappear throughout the evening. When they list 10 specials that's not special."
'Be careful what you're eating'

Ramsay - who has numerous burger restaurants, including his premium Gordon Ramsay Burger eatery in Las Vegas - also revealed what to look out for when ordering a burger.
“First of all, when you stuff a burger, you spoil the texture,” he told LADbible.
“Burgers need to sit and rest. So, when you temper and mess around by stuffing them with blue cheese or courgette - no, keep it simple and don't over-garnish it.
“But the big red flag for me is when you can't f**king see the burger, be careful what you're eating,” he continues.
“Because the secret to a great burger: The bun, top and bottom.

“Then you got some peppery rocket, or some salad, some form of Sriracha, mayo. But you want to see the colour and make sure it’s caramelised.”
