Gordon Ramsay was left speechless by the bill for a dish as he admits his mum would ‘kick his ass’ for it.
The chef is known for his hot takes on the goings-on in other people’s kitchens, with countless episodes of TV shows dedicated to just that.
Although let’s be honest, some of his own restaurants across the UK and around the world aren’t exactly the cheapest in price.
But Ramsay is all about quality and value, often giving his tips for ordering and getting our money’s worth, with his various restaurant ‘red flags’ and advice. So, if he’s baffled by the price of something, then it’s surely justified.

Speaking to LADbible ahead of the launch of Burger King’s new Wagyu meal, the restaurateur explained that he was recently out in the south of France celebrating his wife Tana’s birthday when she ordered a certain dish as a bit of a ‘treat’ - and a pricey treat at that.
“We sat in a hotel in Cannes, and she had a lobster because she loves lobsters. It’s a treat, it's her birthday,” Ramsay says before pausing for dramatic effect to add: “€220 (£190) for a lobster.”
Clearly pretty stunned by this pricing, the chef, who's not exactly hard up, continues: “And I'm not a penny-pincher and I'm not tight, OK, I never question the bill. But €220, what the f**k is going on?”
Pointing out that it was an ‘expensive lobster’, Ramsay admits that when Tana didn’t manage to finish it all, he ‘grabbed it and ate it’ because he couldn’t sit there letting it go to waste.

“If my mum heard that I'd paid €220 for a lobster main course in the south of France she would kick my ass,” he says. “She doesn't even spend that a month on her shopping.”

But for those who do go about complaining about the price of meals, he simply advises: “Don’t order it.”
Instead, doing a bit of plugging, Ramsay says to ‘come and get the burger at £11’ at Burger King.
The fancy new burger is made from 100 percent British wagyu beef and topped with caramelised onions, pink pickled onions, rocket, crispy onions and caramelised onion mayo in a seeded brioche bun.

To be honest, it seems surprising Ramsay would be linking himself to a fast-food chain - but this marked a ‘breakthrough’ for the chef.
“I do very little of these things, and I don’t label stuff. I don’t just stick my name above the door. It has to have integrity,” he says.
And not only does it apparently have that - it certainly doesn’t cost €220.
