Graham Norton revealed that a guest appearance once went so ‘horribly wrong’ that the story had to be cut.
With the style of the legendary chat show, it’s particularly rare that little mistakes or hiccups are taken out, let alone a celebrity’s tale.
But during an appearance on This Morning last year, Norton spoke about some of the things we might not quite know about his beloved BBC show – or might not quite have seen in this case.

The Irishman’s had plenty of memorable and surprising moments on the red sofa over the past nearly 20 years, from the ‘worst guest ever’ and Jim Carrey’s ‘creepy joke’ to Saoirse Ronan iconically calling out Paul Mescal.
And during his chat as a guest himself, Norton was asked if the show ever went ‘horribly wrong’.

“The good thing about our show is that if anything goes wrong – it’s in," Norton explained.
But the team do seem to draw the line on some things, particularly when things get a little emotional, it seems.

"I remember Jon Voight once was telling a story about being young and he made himself cry – we cut that out," he said.
Norton then joked: “Not on our show! No tears on our sofa!”
Voight appeared on the chat show back in 2004, alongside Katie Holmes and Josh Hartnett. In that year, he appeared in the Nicolas Cage film, National Treasure.
The dad of Angelina Jolie is, of course, known for the likes of Enemy of the State, Coming Home and Mission: Impossible.

Best case scenario, Norton said he loves when 'there’s an alchemy and I’m just watching the couch all talk to each other'.
While he might have got himself teary, at least Voight didn’t get himself too tipsy and end up being dubbed as the ‘worst’.

During an appearance on Kiss radio, Norton claimed: “I had Mark Wahlberg fall asleep. He was very, very drunk. It was me, Michael Fassbender and Sarah Silverman. But it was hard to get anything done."
He claimed that this was not only because he was intoxicated, but also because he wouldn't let others finish their stories.

But then, things suddenly improved: "At one point, Michael Fassbender is telling a story, and it’s going really well. Like, he’s getting through the story and I’m thinking, ‘wow this is going well’.
"And then I look over and Mark Wahlberg is just asleep. That’s why it’s going well!”
Wahlberg had addressed the episode in question as he revealed to Digital Spy: "Sarah Silverman and I talked about doing something funny.
"I was trying to do a 'bit' and some people took it too seriously."
