Gwyneth Paltrow had brutal nickname for Winona Ryder following fallout

It's the sort of thing you'd hear on the schoolyard

Gwyneth Paltrow had a brutal nickname for her former roommate Winona Ryder, a new biography has claimed.

Written by Amy Odell, Gwyneth: The Biography focuses on the American businesswoman's early life, rise to fame and her more recent ventures as CEO of the wellness and lifestyle brand Goop.

While the 52-year-old leads a pretty private life, compared to many others in Hollywood at least, it seems she's also not scared of mincing her words. Paltrow allegedly described her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt as 'dumber than a sack of s**t', while also saying he had a 's**t taste in women'.

Paltrow, who was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin between 2003 and 2016, recently appeared in an ad for Astronomer following the drama regarding the former CEO Andy Byron, so you certainly can't accuse her of not having a sense of humour.

And that's reflected in a rather rude nickname which she reportedly had for Winona Ryder, after the two lived together in New York during the 90s.

At the time, the Stranger Things star was dating Matt Damon while Paltrow was going out with his best pal, Ben Affleck, with whom she apparently loved receiving an X-rated act from.

According to Odell, the duo allegedly believed that Ryder regularly made up stories saying she'd been robbed as a ploy for attention, particularly after a fight with her boyfriend.

While this was never proven, and the book stresses that, Odell claims that their friendship quickly deteriorated after this point.

As per the Daily Mail, in the biography, the author writes: “Gwyneth was annoyed that Damon couldn’t see it. Though Damon was kind to her friends, Gwyneth didn’t seem to like him after that.

“Her friendship with Ryder would only deteriorate further, and Gwyneth gave her the nickname 'Vagina Ryder'."

The book also claims that Paltrow and Ryder's 'feud' continued when the former swiped the lead of the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love from Ryder, having previously turned it down.

“After a story about Gwyneth allegedly stealing the script from Winona’s coffee table reached the media, Gwyneth told friends that Ryder had started the rumour, and insisted she’d received the script through her agent,” the author alleges, as per People.

While Ryder or Paltrow have never addressed their alleged feud, the latter previously spoke of a 'frenemy' who wanted to see her demise in a 2009 Goop blog post.

“Back in the day, I had a ‘frenemy’ who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down,” Paltrow penned at the time. “This person really did what they could to hurt me.”

“I was deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous,” the Iron Man star continued.

“I restrained myself from fighting back. … But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my reaction was deep relief and happiness.”
