Andy Byron went viral for all the wrong reasons this week

Andy Byron, the CEO who went viral this week for seemingly being caught with 'another woman' at a Coldplay concert, has resigned from his role.

I imagine by now, everyone and anyone will have heard of the Coldplay concert scandal that went down earlier this week.

During the band's Music of the Spheres World Tour at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium in Boston, US, frontman Chris Martin led a segment which saw the cameras get random members of the crowd involved with a song - but when it landed a man and woman embracing, things went downhill very quickly.

When the pair spotted the camera was on them, they broke apart immediately, with the woman covering her face in seeming embarrassment and the man completely ducking out of view.

Martin seemed to read the room and said jokingly: "Uh oh. Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."

Well, it didn't take long for the internet to do some digging, and people soon began pointing fingers at Andy Byron, the CEO of software development firm Astronomer and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer.

While it's believed Cabot isn't married, Byron is, and the entire world has been obsessed with the saga ever since.

Astronomer soon got to work in verifying that the man was, indeed, their CEO, with the company issuing statements to shut down 'fake statements from Byron' that were circulating online.

They also announced they had launched a formal investigation into the matter, as well as confirming that Byron had been placed on leave.

Now, Astronomer has announced this evening (19 July) that Byron has officially resigned from his position.

In a statement on LinkedIn, they penned: "As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.

"Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.

"Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI.

"While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems."

Byron and Cabot have yet to issue statements personally.

This comes after the woman who filmed the awkward interaction spoke out to share an update on her new-found viral fame.

Grace Springer, from New Jersey, is the person responsible for capturing the scandalous footage, and she recently took to TikTok to answer some burning questions.

She said: "So...yeah. To answer some common questions. such as, have lawyers contacted me - no.

"Another question is, how much money have I made from this. Let's just say, I couldn't take you out to dinner."

Grace said the reaction to the video was 'overwhelming, to say the least', before urging people to remember that there are 'real people' involved in this.

"I'm glad you guys are entertained and that I can make your internet experience fun for the last few days, but at the end of the day, Andy's wife and his family, they're very real people," she said.

"So yeah, just keep that in mind."
