Jackass' Bam Margera admits he almost lost both his legs after they 'dry rotted' away

The 45-year-old has had his fair share of health issues

If you're familiar with the Jackass movies, then you'll be all too aware of the painful stunts that Bam Margera has put himself through over the years.

The 45-year-old had his butt branded on a cattle farm, was locked in a cage with a snake and nearly broke his neck after crashing a golf cart in just a few of the ridiculous antics he and the crew got up to during the physical comedy films.

However, he has also had his own health problems away from the films, with Steve-O revealing that he didn't feature in Jackass Forever because he couldn't stay sober.

While he's remained close with Steve-O, even going on tour with him back in 2023, he has previously called out other members of the crew after being cut, as they feared that he could die due to his addiction issues.

And that seemingly could have been the reality for Bam, who has now revealed in an interview with TMZ that he could have lost both his legs, after his alcohol addiction led to them becoming 'dry rotted.'

He said: "You know, in 2013 the doctor said they were dry-rotted rubber bands from alcohol abuse so I kind of lost hope, but now they are 100 again.

"I'm skating again! My passion's back and I know that if I just focus on skateboarding then everything else comes along with it.

"You know I got lost for a little while and I didn't skate for 10 years. I realised: 'What made me happy? What got me to where I was then?' and it was skateboarding."

After Steve-O invited Bam on stage during his tour, the 51-year-old comedian and stunt performer shared his concerns about Margera's future, saying: "It's become extremely uncomfortable to be braced for the news of your death, Bam.

"I've been bracing myself for that f**king awful news and I can't stand it, man.

"So I wanted you to come on tour, stay close to me, see what's possible, help you put together an act of your own.

"You've got this arc. All these funny bits and jokes and stories. It all doesn't mean s**t if it doesn't have a happy ending where you f**king come out the other end happy and healthy and a good father and f**king thriving in your career. And that is what I want for you brother."

Fortunately, it seems as if Bam has been able to put his health issues behind him and has rediscovered his passion for skateboarding, as he prepares to feature as himself in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, a video game which will be released this week.
