Theory behind Jelly Roll revealing split from Bunnie Xo with hidden social media message

Rapper Jelly Roll has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo but fans think he might have hinted at the split before it was announced.

The American rapper and songwriter made headlines after he and his long-time partner cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their divorce.

It's certainly been a tumultuous relationship for the two, given that they briefly broke up in 2018 but later reconciled, while the singer also admitted to cheating on his wife and suggested at the time that it made them stronger.

After reports first surfaced of their divorce, with TMZ obtaining the legal documents that were filed on 18 May, both parties have taken to social media to talk about seemingly anything else.

Bunnie XO, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, posted a rather explicit photo of herself suggesting that she has got her sparkle back, while the rapper took to Instagram to discuss a protein he's discovered during his weight loss journey.

However, some fans seem to think that the video might have simply been a way of revealing that things had gone awry after he was spotted without a ring on his wedding finger.

One of the Grammy winner’s followers asked: “Wedding ring has been moved onto the left pointer finger since feb/march … is it due to weight loss or are they actually separated?

Another said: "Don't see a wedding ring."

Bunnie Xo previously explained their brief 2018 split in a 2023 TikTok.

“We finally committed to each other & did everything we promised each other the first night in 2016,” she recalled. “Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground.” Unfortunately, it seems as if the ocean may have now washed that sandcastle away for good.

Last year, the singer also opened up about having cheated on his wife, noting that it made them ‘stronger’, which hasn't really aged well either.

“I don't talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he said on the Human School podcast.

“Because it was the first time that I was like, ‘I really can’t get this right at all. I know I’m in love with this woman.’ It just really, really, really blew me back."

He added: “And I wish our story would have went in the way that it never had an affair. And I'm in no way glad it happened, but man, I'm proud of who we are today."

Whether he meant to hint at the news or not, it has still come as a huge surprise to a lot of fans given the intimate way they've talked about their relationship in the past.
