Jenna Ortega's sister reacts to public concern over the actor's appearance
Jenna Ortega’s sister Aliyah has made her feelings clear amid intense public scrutiny of the Wednesday star’s appearance.
Aliyah commented on an Instagram post made by a fan, which hit back at those making remarks about Ortega’s appearance and told them to ‘mind their own business’.
In the lengthy post, which was shared alongside a slew of snaps of Ortega, the fan wrote: "I think everyone should mind their own business and leave Jenna Ortega alone, especially after her recent interview has created so many questions and assumptions about her health.
“She doesn’t owe anyone an explanation; her life is her life, and her body belongs to her. She has every right to make whatever decisions she feels are best for herself without being judged, discriminated against, or subjected to unnecessary speculation.

“We don’t know what she may be going through, and we shouldn’t assume anything based on appearances or a few comments from an interview. Sometimes the most respectful thing we can do is simply give someone privacy, support them, and let them be.”
The fan went on to say that Ortega is a ‘human being first before a celebrity’ and said she deserves ‘privacy, peace and the chance to live her life’.
The post concluded: “Stop concerning yourselves with her personal life and asking intrusive, unnecessary, and random questions. Just leave Jenna alone and allow her to live her life on her own terms.”
And it seems that Ortega’s younger sister Aliyah is in full agreement with what the fan wrote.
The 22-year-old replied:“!!!” underneath the post, appearing to show that she backed the message.
Aliyah’s response comes after Ortega opened up about being a former child star and admitted that she would go all day without eating because she didn’t want to ‘be in the way of anybody’.
Although best-known for her role as the titular character in Wednesday and the new Scream movies, Ortega said she dreamed of becoming a star when she was just seven and actually began acting at nine-years-old in Jane the Virgin, before landing the leading role of Harley Diaz in the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle.
However, she recently revealed that when she was younger she wasn’t very good at taking care of herself on set.
She told Esquire: “I really had it going for me as a child ‘cause I can’t think of one mistake I made. Is that a terrible thing to say? I feel like I make mistakes now all the time, but as a child, I was so grateful and so excited to be there that my game face was on.
“I wasn’t asking for a sip of water. I would go all day without eating, drinking, whatever, because I wanted so badly to not be in the way of anybody.”
"Maybe that was my mistake, was not actually looking after myself.”
When asked for her take on the stigmas surrounding child stars, Ortega quipped, “Is it wrong to say that a lot of them are true? And do with that what you will.”
