Jenny Mollen faced a backlash after sharing a snap of her and her 12-year-old son alongside a caption about ‘dating’ him.
Mollen, who recently announced her split from American Pie star Jason Biggs, shared some photos of her and son Sid on Instagram.
In the photos, the comedian and author can be seen lying on top of her 12-year-old son and holding his head.
"Your eldest son will be the most toxic guy you ever date,” she wrote in the since-deleted caption.

She also shared the same post to Facebook, where it was accompanied by Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s song ‘03 Bonnie & Clyde, but it’s since been removed from her page.

Although the caption has been removed, Mollen’s post was still met with a wave of criticism from Instagram users with many branding it 'inappropriate' and 'weird'.
“Super weird. And I have boys the same age. And yes we hug and cuddle but that caption was creepy AF,” one said.
“This is weird. Coming from a mom with two boys,” another commented.
A third wrote: “As a boy mom, I’m deeply appalled. The first caption was reprehensible. I can’t imagine thinking that was an appropriate thing to say about your child.”
However, Mollen, 46, hit back at the criticism on Instagram Stories saying the reaction to her post had been ‘jaw-dropping’.
"It's like because I'm getting separated, because I'm not protected by the institution of marriage, I'm suddenly like a different kind of target in what I'm posting. Like this is absolutely jaw-dropping.
“A photo of me hugging my 12-year-old child is getting ridiculed.”

She went on to write that people ‘won’t get it unless you have a son that makes you do things that you would never, ever, ever do for another man.’
A source close to Mollen also defended the post, telling TMZ: "The picture is nothing more than a mother hugging her 12 year-old son.
"Anyone inferring anything else should be ashamed of themselves."
When asked about the controversial caption originally shared alongside the post, the unnamed source added simply: “She’s a comedian.”
Mollen and Biggs share two sons, Sid and eight-year-old Lazlo.
The pair met while filming My Best Friend’s Girl in 2007 and were engaged a short while later.

Last month, after 18 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation but said they were still on good terms and co-parenting together.
“They are very much connected,” a source told People.
“I have no doubt that they will remain on excellent terms.”
LADbible reached out to reps for Mollen for comment.
