Hilarious reason why Joe Lycett wore full Elizabethan gown to BAFTAs
Joe Lycett rocked up to the TV BAFTAs in a full Elizabethan gown this evening (12 May) and there's a hilarious reason why.
With bright orange hair, the comedian walked the red carpet in London dressed as Queen Elizabeth I.
Tonight's (12 May) TV awards are hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and Lycett's Channel 4 show, Late Night Lycett, is up for an award.

But it's his bizarre outfit stealing the show already as he and his two aunties chatted to media before the awards ceremony.
One X user wrote: "Joe Lycett said, 'I will make the BAFTAs my Met Gala'."
A second joked: "I feel sorry for the persons sat behind @joelycett tonight...."
And another pointed out: "Joe Lycett actually went through with his promise to attend the BAFTAs dressed as Elizabeth I. Incredible."
Yep, that's because Lycett made a promise to wear the costume, after losing a bet with his aunties who are essentially stars of his show.
He said that if Margaret and Pauline managed to get 200,000 followers on Instagram by a certain date, then he'd attend tonight's show dressed as the Tudor queen.
And, good for the aunties, they made it. Although, if they had hit 250,000 by today, then EastEnders actor Natalie Cassidy would have walked the red carpet alongside as his 'lady-in-waiting'.
Oh well, Queen Elizabeth I seems good enough.
Lycett shared the snap to Instagram, alongside a portrait of the actual Lizzie, with the caption: "Who wore it best?"
BAFTA commented to say it's 'incredible' as Lorraine Kelly wrote: "You are very very silly - keep up the good work."
Radio 1 host Greg James wrote: "Perfect weather for it! Elizabetty Swollocks."
And singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor put: "I love this look."
One user joked on X: "I hope Joe Lycett wins an award purely so he has to get on stage in that outfit and confuse the heck out of people who haven’t watched Late Night Lycett or don’t follow him on Instagram."
