Text messages allegedly sent between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni show the pair discussing the actress's post-pregnancy body, amid recent 'fat-shaming' claims.
In December 2024, Lively filed a lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star Baldoni over allegations of sexual harassment and a subsequent 'social manipulation' campaign against her. Baldoni has since retaliated by suing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane over numerous allegations, including defamation. Legal representatives for both Lively and Baldoni have subsequently denied all claims made in the respective lawsuits.

One of the key points in Lively's case against the actor and director stated the actress was subject to fat-shaming by Baldoni. The claims included repeated criticisms of 'her body and weight' and asking Lively's personal trainer to disclose her weight just months after she gave birth to her fourth child.
Baldoni's legal team has since published a website which features his version of events, as well as alleged text messages sent between himself and Lively to support the case.
The 168-page document includes texts allegedly sent by both the director and Lively, which Baldoni's team believe disprove the idea that he was 'fat-shaming' her.
Asking about her weight
One of the most egregious moves referenced in Lively's civil complaint against Baldoni was him allegedly contacting her fitness trainer, and she claims 'implied that he wanted her to lose weight.'

She said in her complaint: "Less than four months after Ms. Lively had given birth to her fourth child, Ms. Lively was humiliated to learn that Mr. Baldoni secretly called her fitness trainer, without her knowledge or permission, and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks."

She stated this was due to concern around picking her up, with her stating 'there was no such scene'.
Baldoni, however, disputes this version of events.

He claims that, in preparation for a lift sequence, he asked what she weighed due to 'lifelong back injuries', referencing "multiple bulging disks and chronic pain".

He points to Lively claiming there was no scene by included a screenshot of an earlier script in which he would have 'scooped her up', and states there is a video in which he is rehearsing the scene.
He also points to earlier alleged text messages between the pair about upcoming filming of sex scenes in which he said: "I just don't want you to stress about your body, it's the last thing you need."

This stoked conflict between the two parties, with Baldoni claimed he was 'summoned' to her penthouse and berated by Reynolds upon arrival, who he claims said: "How dare you f**king ask about my wife's weight? What's wrong with you?"
He states the scene was then removed due to 'complaints' from Reynolds and Lively.
'Weight-loss specialist'
Another important accusation in Lively's complaint is that, when she caught strep throat, Baldoni offered to connect her with an expert to help out with this.

When she went to fill out the privacy forms, she claims she 'saw that the expert was not what [Justin Baldoni] claimed to be, and was actually a 'weight-loss specialist.'
The complaint went on to say: "Ms. Lively felt, once again, that Mr Baldoni was shaming her for her body and weight."
This claim is directly addressed in Baldoni's sequence of events, in which he says it is false, and they were indeed a 'holistic health coach'.

Baldoni includes an alleged text conversation (above) with Lively in which he offers to connect her with a health coach, and Lively allegedly says "she's incredible, thank you again so much."
He also includes an alleged conversation with his 'wellness coach', the health coach Lively mentions in her complaint, in which he specifically reaches out about probiotics due to her strep throat.
The ongoing legal battle between the pair is set to continue, with their lawyers trading blows in the first hearing that took place this week.
Currently, the trial date is set for March 2026, but the judge presiding over the case warned that this may be moved forward if the case continues to be 'litigated in the press' by both sides.
