The steamy thriller involving sex dungeons and a dominatrix has been revealed as the inspiration behind Kim Kardashian's Met Gala look.

Kim was one of many A-listers to give her take on the ball's 'Fashion Is Art' dress code, which included Katy Perry's bizarre face mask and Heidi Klum channelling her iconic Halloween costumes to transform herself into a marble statue.

For the reality star and SKIMS founder, who's been a major player in the Met Gala game for over a decade now, she of course had to bring a sexed-up take on the theme, rocking a breastplate designed by pop artist Allen Jones.

The tangerine fibreglass breastplate was crafted over the course of three weeks at an auto body shop and paired with a leather skirt created by Whitaker Malem.

"I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion," Kim said of her decision to partner with Jones, adding: "I’ve always been, like, a big admirer of his work."

For those of you who are less familiar with Jones' work, the British artist created paintings and sculptures which often displayed overtly sexual and somewhat fetishistic themes.

He notably designed a poster for Barbet Schroeder's 1975 drama Maîtresse, an erotic French-language drama which tells the story of an obsessive romance between a wannabe burglar and a dominatrix.

Sex dungeons, BDSM, urophilia and all.

Unsurprisingly, the film caused quite a stir when released, initially being banned by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in 1976 over its depiction of BDSM.

It was later released in 1981 with an X certificate after several cuts were made, with the uncut version only becoming available via DVD release in 2003.

But how is Jones involved in all of this, you ask?

Well, the 88-year-old was involved in creating posters for the erotic film, which depicts a woman in a bustier holding a set of keys while a whip lies at her feet.

Oh là là indeed!

Jones would later develop the poster into a series of paintings, which were displayed in London in 2016.

As for Kim's cast, Jones repurposed a mould from 1967 or 1968, as the reality star did not want to wear a piece sculpted from her own body.

"I wanted something original, I didn’t want to cast my own body," she added.

What is the Met Gala – and how much does it cost to attend?

The annual event sees A-listers from the worlds of fashion, music, acting and entertainment descend on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's costume institute dressed in their finest.

It is first and foremost a fundraising event, but it's also a chance to show off how fashionable you are, with stars partnering with haute couture houses to execute the event's chosen theme.

And, surprise, surprise, securing a ticket is not cheap.

Tickets to the 2025 event, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style', reportedly cost $75,000 (£55,000), according to CBS, which is a lot more than your typical charity event.

And even if you had tens of thousands to spare, it's not possible to simply buy a Met Gala ticket, as all guests have to be invited and approved by Anna Wintour.

And if you're very lucky, the designer dressing you will foot the bill, meaning you get to attend without forking out an extortionate amount of money.
