Kristen Bell misses TV appearance following backlash to husband’s anniversary post

The actress didn't show up for a scheduled appearance on TV to promote Nobody Wants This

Kristen Bell has missed an appearance on TV after she got her fair share of criticism for her wedding anniversary post with Dax Shepard.

The Good Place star has made headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this week after a post which was intended to be heartfelt was taken the complete wrong way by fans.

Bell has been married to fellow actor Dax Shepard for 12 years now, sharing two children, after they started dating back in 2007.

It should be a wholesome occasion, one would think, especially in the whirlwind of Hollywood, where relationships often escalate quickly and fail at a similar speed.

But in the caption of an Instagram post, Bell said that Shepard joked about men who have 'killed their wives', as he said he wouldn't follow suit, which is romantic, I think?

In full, the message read: "Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me, 'I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.'"

Maybe it looks better on a card.

Celebrities poured in messages of support and laughter, with the likes of Howie Mandel and Terry Crews seemingly acknowledging the odd joke.

Fans were more confused, with some pointing out that the comments came 'during domestic violence awareness month', with others saying that she shouldn't have joked about death at all.

Bell had since turned comments on the post off, though the actress has now continued to stay out of the limelight after missing a schedules appearance on the Today Show on Wednesday (22 October) morning.

Instead, her Nobody Wants This co-star Justine Lupe made an appearance on the TV show, as she didn't mention why Bell hadn't turned up.

Among the big names in the comments of Bell's controversial post was NBC show Dateline, with the account leaving a comment saying 'screenshotted', as Bell restricted comments on a number of her posts.

The couple are known for getting weird online though, as Shepard thought the best way to celebrate his wife getting nominated for an Emmy for the aforementioned Netflix show was to post a snap of her doing naked stretches, with her private bits covered with a red modesty box.

Bell didn't seem bothered at all, reposting it on her own accounts, while her friends thought it was hysterical.
