Leigh-Anne Pinnock responds after squirting ‘breast milk’ over models at London Fashion Week

Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s time on the Di Pesta catwalk for London Fashion Week has opened up a debate after people online had mixed reactions to the outfit and themes – leading her to respond.

The former Little Mix singer debuted her bump and is carrying her third child with footballer husband Andre Gray after welcoming twins back in 2021.

During the show, she could be seen walking sown the runway wearing a white bra and matching loose fitting trousers that left her stomach fully on display as it was covered in a glowing makeup.

There, she walked with her arms outstretched, with a gauze cape flowing behind her as models wearing colourful outfits sat below her.

Before the event, Leigh-Anne took to Instagram to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the outfit, writing that she was about to ‘check something very special off the bucket list.’

Although, the actual event has proven to have caused much talk on social media.

In response, the singer has spoken out on her Instagram account, noting that she felt ‘unapologetically WOMAN’ on the runway.

Addressing the mixed reviews, the singer said in her post: “I know a moment like this won’t be for everyone. But maybe that’s the point, women have spent generations being told what we can and cannot do with our bodies. I’m not interested in adding another rule.

“My body is not something to be ashamed of because it is changing, it's not less beautiful because it is carrying life.

“And it does not stop belonging to me because I am becoming a mother.

“I felt powerful. I felt free. I felt completely, unapologetically WOMAN.”

Of course, many fans loved the runway look and took to X to say so.

One commenter said: “leigh-anne closes the show for di petsa at london fashion week which explored ‘the scared roots, symbolism and ritual of motherhood.’

Another wrote: “SHE LOOKS SO MAJESTIC OMGGGG.”

Someone else said: “QUEEEEEEN. I love this so much!!!!!!”

But not all were pleased. In fact, there was a lot of criticism regarding the depiction of what appeared to be breast milk symbolism in the outfit, as the singer’s bosom squirted white liquid onto the models below.

“How sick can we get?,” asked one person.

Another said: “This so sad to see, the fact I really liked this music group.”

A third wrote: “It's all about attention. We are watching children playing. It's called theatre for the braindead. Nothing to see here, apart from an attention seeker run by their management team.”

But there have been those actively defending the singer in the comments of threads bashing her outfit, like this user, who commented: “All the people mad in the comments over this, imagine being so pathetic that this would bother you so much.”

Leigh-Anne's post also see her write of the experience: “HOLY MILK SS27 Walking my first ever fashion show and I did it pregnant. With the iconic @dipetsa I don’t think I’ll ever forget this moment.”

She went on to say that ‘pregnancy is so often treated as something we should hide’ and that expectant mothers are 'told to cover up, to be careful, to dress around our changing bodies and somehow, in the process of that we can lose the feeling that our bodies are ours to celebrate.’

“So to be given a space to stand on a runway, pregnant, completely exposed to the power of what my body is doing and to celebrate it rather than conceal it… was seriously one of the most empowering experiences of my life,” she said. “This was about womanhood, motherhood, creation and power. The ability to grow an entire human being inside you and still somehow continue to become yourself.”

Leigh-Anne said there ‘is something so sacred about that’ as she claims fashion designer Di petsa ‘made it the centre of the story’.
