Fans have been trying to figure out what Leonardo DiCaprio was actually saying during one of the ad-breaks during Sunday night's (11 January) Golden Globes.

The 51-year-old was nominated for 'Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy' for his lead role in One Battle After Another.

While he eventually lost out to Timothée Chalamet for his role in Marty Supreme, the seasoned actor went viral for something else last night.

DiCaprio is known for keeping to himself, and after decades in the spotlight, you can't really blame him.

But it does mean that when he opens up a little bit and shows a slightest bit of goofiness, social media will eat it up, like users did last night.

DiCaprio could be seen pointing, grinning, speaking, and pouting during an advertisement break while he sat one of the largest tables at the ceremony.

Appearing uncharacteristically animated, users took to X to point out the actor's playful behaviour, as the original post of the star garnered over 10 million views.

"Something has activated Leonardo DiCaprio during this commercial break," it read.

One joked: "Greatest facial actor in the game man," with another calling him a 'diva', as a different user wrote: "Leonardo DiCaprio deserves a separate Golden Globe just for this lol."

But others were trying to figure out what the actor was saying in the first place, with many speculating about what he may have been speaking about.

One X user suggested of the viral footage: "I was watching you with that 'pop' thing…..something…..something…..over there. That’s what I got."

Someone else asked: "Any professional lip readers? @grok what is he saying?"

There were no clear answers, but it's widely been suggested that the actor said something along the lines of: "I was watching you, when the K-Pop thing, you were like, 'Is that — who is that?'"

Another suggestion went more like: "I was watching you with the K pop thing, you were like, who’s that, is that, Oh, K pop."

It's still unclear about who the actor was speaking to, as they didn't appear in the clip, though it looks like the Wolf of Wall Street star was having a whale of a time.

He could also be seen clapping his hands in the video, with another fan noting: "This has me howling omfg it’s the most animated I’ve ever seen him."

Some called for him to feature in a comedy film after seeing his expressions on show.

The actor also made headlines for another moment in the night, though it was at the hands of host Nikki Glasner, throwing a playful jab at the actor's trend of dating younger women.

Speaking about his awards and achievements, she then added: “And the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.”

Di Caprio smiled, but the comedian apologised: “Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap.

“I tried not to but, you know, we don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else, open up.”
