Liam Payne's cousin has reflected on the music star's death as he shared devastating details weeks after final CCTV was shared.

The former One Direction star died from 'polytrauma' after falling 46 feet from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 16 October 2024.

A toxicology report after his death later revealed that the singer had cocaine, alcohol and the powerful sedative Klonopin in his body at the time of the tragedy.

CCTV released by police earlier this month provided an insight into how he spent his final moments.

The 31-year-old could be seen inside the lobby of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel with two women, who are believed to be prostitutes ldana Serrano and Lucila Goite.

They both claimed to have had sex with Payne in the hours before his death.

The footage appeared to show Payne sitting in the lobby as the two women talked to him for a period of time. Others showed him standing around the reception desk.

Meanwhile, other clips released show Payne wandering through the hotel corridors and swinging from a nearby lamppost.

Staff are also seen carrying buckets of champagne and whiskey to his room, with receipts detailing that Payne spent more than $600,000 on whisky before falling from the balcony.

Now, in an interview with ITV, his cousin Ross Harris, who taught the star to play the piano as a youngster, described how he missed a call from Liam the day that he died, and revealed that the pop star 'didn't feel very loved'.

"I think my phone must have been face down and we were recording, and yeah, just completely missed it," he told the broadcaster.

"And then I think I probably saw it maybe an hour or two later... then I tried to call, but I think he was already gone by that point.

"Hindsight's a beautiful, awful thing where if I could go back, I would change absolutely everything."

He said that Liam 'didn't feel very loved', saying that fans 'loved Liam Payne' but that he 'needed someone to love Liam'.

Describing his raise to fame at such a young age, Ross added: "Even though he was in his thirties, he was still basically a kid in this industry because he didn’t have a chance to grow up like a normal person would outside of the fame system.

"I think in entertainment the cost is much higher because someone's image and their health is on the line in a public facing way where a mistake has a much higher cost."

Ross has released a song titled 'Bones' in tribute to his cousin, with the proceeds going to raise money for causes close to the former One Direction singer's heart.

Further documents previously released by the Mail on Sunday included a WhatsApp chat including members of staff at the hotel, with messages dated to 14 October discussing how best to manage Payne's behaviour.

Authorities had also been called to the hotel before Payne's death, after staff expressed concern about his welfare.

Hotel workers Ezequiel Pereyra, 22, and waiter Braian Paiz, 26, were later arrested and charged with supplying drugs to the singer, however they have since been released on bail ahead of trial.

Both of the men deny all charges against them. Legal sources have indicated that plea deal negotiations are ongoing.
