Lizzo admits to using Ozempic amid extreme weight loss transformation after previously denying claims

Lizzo says she doesn't see the medication as 'cheating'

Lizzo has admitted to previously using Ozempic after denying the claims.

The ‘Good as Hell’ singer has been open about her workouts and lifestyle changes in recent years amid her weight loss transformation.

But despite her right to privacy, her size and shape have continued to be a topic of public discussion. Having explained why she won’t reveal the exact amount of weight she has shed, Lizzo has been regularly accused of using Ozempic as the real reason behind her weight loss.

Typically designed for Type-2 diabetes, the drug has been used by celebrities for a number of years to help them rapidly lose weight.

However, the star had previously denied that she had used the medication, posting on social media in September 2024: “When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit.”

But in a recent interview, she has now said she did try out the medication.

Appearing on Trisha Paytas’ Just Trish podcast, Lizzo said she’s ‘tried everything’.

It’s important to note, though, that she does not say she relied on that for her weight loss, merely that she tried it out and decided not to focus on that for her journey.

Instead, she decided counting calories and making lifestyle changes would be more beneficial to her.

“It’s just the science for me, calories in versus calories out,” she explained. “Ozempic works because you eat less food. That’s it. It makes you feel full, so if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same s–t.”

While she decided to stop using Ozempic early on, after trying it in 2023, Lizzo added that she doesn’t see it as ‘cheating’ when people use it to help with weight loss.

"It's not easy. It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with," the star said. "I think people... it's their way of being fat phobic when you're telling someone they're cheating."

Lizzo credits her weight loss to her workout routine and diet, having changed to eating plant-based after 'like 10 years'.

"When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats, I was eating a lot of bread, I was eating a lot of rice, and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full, but really I was consuming like 3,000 – 5,000 calories a day," she said.

She said that she now eats more whole foods, like beef and chicken, to feel full instead of 'a lot of fake things' that weren't filling her up.

"I don't like to tell people too much about releasing weight like what I did because I don't want people to do what I did and it doesn't work for them," Lizzo added. "Everybody's body is different."
