Luke Wilson has announced that he's welcomed his first child with partner Kendall Yates.

People reported that the couple brought the newborn, a baby girl, to a press reception for the actor's upcoming Netflix series The Hawk, with them introducing the baby to some of her dad's co-stars while they were there.

The couple, who keep their personal lives largely private, haven't released details about their daughter's name or made a big announcement of it, but it's their life and their baby so it's really up to them how much or little they want to share.

Idiocracy star Wilson, 54, has been dating Yates, 24, for a few years now and has long said that he would like to be a father some day.

His elder brothers Owen, 57, and Andrew, 61, already have children but Luke has said several times that he would like to experience fatherhood for himself.

Wilson had said back in 2019 that he thought he was ready to start a family after talking about the idea of it for a long time, telling Hollywood Life that he needed to 'get to work' on that front.

That was seven years ago so he took his time, but now he does have his first child.

Back then he'd said: "I was doing press a couple of years ago and one of these journalists that I’ve known since I first got to town said to me, ‘Luke you said in 1996 that you wanted to be a father what is going on?’

"My own mother doesn’t even say that but it was really funny and I didn’t realize that I’ve been talking about it for that long. But yes, I definitely want to start a family. I love my niece and my nephews.

"And I know how much my dad loved being a father, that was one of the things that made him the most happy, so yeah, I’m 47, I’m ready for that. I need to get to work.”

The Anchorman actor had previously said that he was getting 'panicky' about turning 50, telling People in 2021 that the prospect of hitting the big 5-0 a few years back had an impact on him.

He'd said: "It's definitely one of those things has had me thinking, 'Oh, okay. So this is where the phrase midlife crisis comes from.' I'm definitely starting to feel panicky about some stuff."
