Meghan Markle ‘ignored’ by Hollywood icon in awkward red carpet moment

Meghan Markle appeared to be 'snubbed' on the red carpet recently by Hollywood legend David Foster.

Meghan, 45, and her husband, Prince Harry, 45, were attending the 40th anniversary gala for the David Foster Foundation in Victoria, Canada, on Friday, August 7, when the seemingly awkward moment occurred.

Meghan was being embraced by Harry on the red carpet, with cameras rapidly snapping photographs, as 16-time Grammy Award winner, Foster, 76, approached the couple.

Footage that has been shared on social media then shows Meghan taking her hand from Harry's chest and extending it in Foster's direction, as if in greeting.

However, it appears that Foster completely ignores the gesture, not even seeming to glance in her direction, and walks past the former Suits star, who then looks down and puts her hands behind her back.

Katherine McPhee, Foster's wife and an American Idol star, then puts her arm around Meghan as the two couples pose together in front of the hungry paparazzi, with all four beaming.

Meghan went on to post a selfie with Harry from the event on Instagram, as well as a video of them walking past a bagpipe band.

LADbible Group has approached the representatives of Meghan Markle and David Foster for comment.

Social media has jumped on the apparently tense moment and believes the Duchess of Sussex may well have been snubbed by Foster.

"TENSIONS ON THE RED CARPET!" one user posted on X.

Another added: "Markle publicly snubbed by host David Foster. He refuses to greet her and ignores her reaching hand. Ouch."

However, others pointed out that Meghan was attending Foster's charity event and was perhaps just ushering him and Katherine into position to take some photographs together.

Especially since the Duke and Duchess have known the celebrity couple for years.

The close relationship between the royals and David Foster's family

David and Katherine helped set the royal couple up to live in a luxury Canadian mansion on Vancouver Island.

“I felt honoured that I was able to help Meghan there because I’m a Canadian and we’re a commonwealth country," Foster told the Daily Mail.

“It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment. I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite just to take a little time off.

“I know that it was reinvigorating for them to spend some downtime. This is a great testament to my hometown of Victoria that they were able to go under the radar for so long.”

'They’re like father and son'

Katherine has also discussed the relationship between Harry and David in the past.

She told Access Hollywood, via The Sun: “My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry. They’re so cute. They’re like father and son.”

McPhee and Markle even attended the same catholic school together, Immaculate Heart, in Los Angeles.

She said: “She went to a school called Immaculate Heart, as did I. She went there for middle school and high school, and I went there just for middle school. I did a couple of shows with her and she was always put together and great. I was never really close friends with her.”
