Michael Jackson's son 'Blanket' makes another rare appearance in photo next to brother and sister

Michael Jackson's son 'Blanket' makes another rare appearance in photo next to brother and sister

The King of Pop's youngest son has made a rare public appearance

'Blanket' is Michael Jackson's youngest son, and he has recently made a rare public appearance.

Appearing on the red carpet alongside brother Prince, 27, and sister Paris, 25, the three were attending the preview of MJ: The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre in Soho, London, on Thursday (27 March) night.

The 22-year-old is known for keeping his life private, being in the spotlight the least out of the star's kids.

He was last spotted in a family photo posted on Instagram in January 2024 by rapper Omer Bhatti, who became close to Michael Jackson as he grew up, with the King of Pop becoming a 'mentor' to him.

'Blanket' was born as Prince Michael Jackson II on 21 February 2002 through a surrogate mother, and is known today as a YouTuber and filmmaker.

He was thrust into controversy just nine months after his birth, when his Father hung him over a balcony with a blanket over his head to show the press.

Alongside his elder half-siblings, he grew up on the infamous Neverland Ranch with his father, though has remained the most low-key following the musician's death in 2009.

Now known as Bigi, he has made his first public appearance, alongside his siblings, for the first time in over a decade as they support the musical about their father's life.

Prince Jackson is the eldest of the three, and can be seen smiling in all the photos taken on the night, showing the press the most attention.

In stark contrast, Paris and Bigi remained straight-faced and quiet in front of the cameras, despite Paris often making appearances at public events with her older brother.

The controversial West End musical was attended by the trio, which covers Jackson's childhood and pop career up to 1992.

With 10 nominations for Tony Awards, the critically acclaimed portrayal of the pop star's life grossed $170.9 million (£135 million) at the box office as of January 2024.

Myles Frost stars as MJ himself, though the musical does not cover the stories of his children.

The name 'Blanket' was explained by Jackson prior to his death: "It's an expression I use with my family and my employees.

"I say, 'you should blanket me, you should blanket her with something,' meaning, like, a blanket is a blessing. It's a way of showing love and caring," he explained.

Blanket clearly wasn't a fan though, as he legally changed his name in 2015.

He wasn't the only one of Jackson's kids to be covered with a blanket in their younger years though, as Paris spoke up on the disguises in 2010: "It wasn't always comfortable, but I appreciated it."

Prince also revealed: "My dad spoke to me like an adult. He told us the reason for the masks was he wanted us to have our own life without him."
