Michael Mosley vanished while on holiday on a Greek island

CCTV images have been released of the last sighting of missing TV doctor before his disappearance.

Michael Mosley was last seen on Wednesday (5 June) while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi. At around 1:30pm local time, the 67-year-old set off for a walk from the middle of the island and a local reported seeing him in the Pedi area.

The TV doctor and columnist is known for appearing on shows like The One Show and This Morning. He's also credited with popularising the 5:2 diet.

Local police began scouring the island for Mosley this morning (7 June) after pausing the search-and-rescue operation last night.

Symi’s coast guard said: “All our patrol boats are searching … about five and also all the private boats, commercial boats know about the incident and they look for (him) also, in this area, (so this is) the private, the commercial and the patrol (boats looking).”

CCTV images have now been released which appear to show Mosley half an hour after he left Saint Nikolas Beach and went missing.

Mosley and his wife were on holiday with another couple and the four of them had taken a boat and gone out for a swim off the Greek island.

However, local media reported he preferred to return on foot. And these images are believed to have been captured by a restaurant at around 2pm local time.

Located in Pedi, it's a small beachside town about 1.2km from Saint Nikolas Beach.

The footage shows the TV doctor using an umbrella as he walks in a cap, shorts and polo shirt.

A spokesperson for the Greek fire service told PA: “The search continues today with seven firefighters, one drone checking the wider area, and we (are) co-operating with the Hellenic Police Office.”

The spokesperson confirmed that the police are also using sniffer dogs in its search.

Mayor of Symi, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas previously claimed that firefighters had told him they believed it was 'impossible' Mosley would still be in the Pedi area.

"It is a very small, controlled area, full of people. So if something happened to him there, we would have found him by now," he told the BBC.
